AT THE VALENTINE'S DANCE! FEBRUARY 14, 1860 |
| Lara walked down stairs arm in arm with Kimberly, and the pair stood in
front of Tyson. Lara smiled at the look that passed over his face, and felt pleased that
she had not changed her mind about going to the dance. "Wow! You two look really great," Tyson said with a smile. "Why thank you, young man," Lara took the arm he offered her, while Kimberly took Tysons other arm. "Shall we proceed," he asked, and the three walked out of the saloon and headed down the street. "Well ladies, this looks like its going to be one fun night," Tyson said as they entered the large corral. Lara took a quick look around the busy hall, the music seemed to be just getting started and people had moved out on to the dance floor. Lara was so busy looking around she hardly noticed Kimberley excuse herself. Lara recognized most people from around town, but felt very pleased that she had come with someone, so she would not be left on her own. The sound of the happy music brought a huge smile to Lara's face and she started to tap her feet. "Ooh, the dancing has started!" Lara said, and pulled Tyson on to the dance floor. Tyson had never seen Lara so excited and allowed her to pull him over to join another couple. No one seemed to have much of an idea of how to do the dance, but the laughter made up for it. "This is the best time I've had in ages," Lara laughed as Tyson spun her into the center of the square. Lara had forgotten to worry about people looking at her and was just trying to keep up with the music. "Oh, I know what you mean, and to think that you weren't even sure of coming." Tyson gasped, and decided the talking and dancing was not a good idea. "Well, I'm so glad I did," Lara smiled. "I wonder what Kim is up to?" Lara looked over to where Kimberly stood chatting with Cody. Lara tried to catch their eye, but they were to busy talking to notice. Tyson followed her gaze and laughed "Well, its about time. We should invite them two to dance." "Maybe later, I'm having too much fun to stop!" puffed Lara. She realized as she said the words that it was true. She had not felt so alive since she had left Ireland. Lara looked at Tysons red face with his bottom lip clenched between his teeth as he tried to concentrate. And decided that although a saloon job was not what she had planed, she could not of made better friends than Kim and Tyson. Lara looked over at Kimberley and Cody again, and was pleased that they seemed to be getting on. Cody had always been friendly to Lara, and even helped her out once or twice. Because she was not concentrating Lara missed the next turn of the dance and Tyson paid for it, and ended up in a heap on the floor. Lara busted out laughing and grasped her sides. Tyson stayed on the floor with a surprised look on his face. "Well," He stated, "At leased now I get a rest." "OH! No you don't. I am not letting you abandon me now. We are in this together mister!" Lara said with her hands on her hips. Tyson was going to try and put up a fight, and then caught a look at Lara's face and decided that this was a battle that he would not win. "Ok, ok, but if you do that again, I will get the law on to you!" Tyson tried to get back on his feet just as his sister and Cody came to join them. "May we join in and make a ten, it really can't make you look any worse can it?" Cody asked. Lara ginned and straightened Tysons tie, and before he could draw a breath, the dance had started again. Lara, Kimberley and Tyson stayed together and danced all night. "I can't remember when it was so great to be so bad at something," Kimberly stated. Tyson laughed, "I know, but we were getting a few strange look weren't we?" "I don't know about you two, but I don't think I've ever laughed so much," Lara grinned as she tried to fix a fallen ribbon, and then gave it up as a lost cause, and decided she would probable look a lot worse by the end of the evening. The dancing carried on into the night, and when the time came to stop at the end of the night, Lara decided that her feet were about ready to drop off. She was hot, tired and in pain, and she loved it. Kimberly exclaimed, "Oh, thank god, I don't think I could handle another dance. I'm so tired I wonder if I'll even be able to make it back!" "Of course you will! Cause if you don't who's going to cook me breakfast in the morning," Tyson grinned back at her. "Well don't look at me Mr. Marmont," Lara chipped in, "Trust me, you do NOT want me cooking for you, if you want to live, that is." The three walked back out of the hall, Laughing and holding each other up, and even closer than when they had walked in. |
