Lara wasn’t planning on going to the Easter picnic. No one had asked her to go anyway. She didn’t think that Kathleen or Tyson were going either, but she hadn’t asked them. She didn’t want to pry. Kathleen’s brother, Tyson, is a very handsome man, and Lara likes him very much, but she knew that Tyson didn’t think about her in the same way. He’s very easy going and talks with all the ladies in town. She has seen him talking a lot with the newspaper owner, Jacy. They seemed to get along very well.

Well, it was almost show time, so Lara wiggled into her saloon outfit, brushed her hair and sighed as she looked in the mirror. Her hair as usual was being very unmanageable. She finally gave up and just flipped the hair on her forehead back out of her eyes. She hated long hair and wanted to cut it, but she just couldn’t do that while she worked in the saloon. The guys wouldn’t think she was pretty enough, and she wouldn’t get as much tips as she does now.

Sauntering down the steps as if she was the queen of the ball, she smiled at all the men in the room. It was very full tonight, but then again it was Saturday night, the busiest night of the week. She would get lots of tips tonight if she played her cards right. She joined Richard and Tyson at the bar and said hello.

"Good evening, Lara." Richard replied.

"You ready to work?" Tyson asked.

"I’m ready." Lara charmingly smiled. She set to work serving drinks to a full table of poker players. One old coot slapped her bottom, but those were the kind of things one had to endure in order to get good tips.

The night wore on with no major incidents and after the last one slipped out the door and Tyson locked up, Lara slowly walked up the stairs to her bedroom. She took out all her money and counted it. It had been a very good night. She had made roughly $25.00 and a note that said, ‘If you want to have a good time, I’ll be back again next Saturday night.’ Signed Big Al.

As Lara tossed off her dress she thought, Yeah he’s big alright, big and fat. After pulling on her nightclothes, she climbed into bed and immediately fell asleep.
