SEPTEMBER 27, 1860

Kimberly poked her head through the door of the saloon and smiled as the familiar smells of alcohol and tobacco wafted through the air. She hated to admit it, but she'd actually missed the noise and chatter that emanated from the Rusty Trigger. The other thing that she hated to admit was that she was rather looking forward to Tyson coming back.

Kimberly shrugged her shoulders and moved further along down the street. She had been thinking about the costume party and had watched various people go into the boutique. Most of them left looking secretive and smug, and she was more than curious about the different goings on in there. She was just walking towards it when she saw a familiar figure looking in the shop window.

"Hi Lou, you figured out what you are going as yet?" Kimberly bounced alongside Lou and grinned.

Lou was shaken out of her dream and shrugged her shoulders. "Oh, I'm not even sure that I am going."

"You have to! Practically everyone'll be there, it'd be fun," Kimberly laughed as she grabbed Lou and pulled him into the boutique.

"Uhuh . . . no . . . really," Lou stammered as she was dragged through the doorway and into the boutique.

"Hi, may I help you," The girl at the counter had been watching the two outside the window with some amusement.

Kimberly grinned at the young girl. "I'm Kimberly, you probably know my friend here from the station," she said as she waved her hands in Lou's direction. "You're Teaspoons niece right?"

"Uh yes, I'm Grace, nice to meet you" Grace said shyly. "May I help you with something?"

Lou shrugged her shoulders and moved closer to the door, while Kimberly did the opposite and moved closer to the counter. "Yes, I was thinking about something for the Halloween dance."

Grace smiled and looked toward Lou, "For you both?"

Kimberly looked at Lou expectantly, "Come on, It'd be fun I promise."

Lou looked at her friends pleading face and rolled her eyes. "I didn't want to be stuck at the station all alone anyway," she said as she crossed her arms and leaned against the door. "But, on one condition," Lou raised her index finger and gave Kimberly the sternest look she could muster, "I aint being the back end of a cow again, that was worst Christmas play ever!"

Kimberly laughed and beckoned Lou to come away from the same door she had been ready to sneak out of five minutes before.
