SEPTEMBER 11, 1860
Tyson had delivered the mailbags to the post office, and then he decided to check on Kimberly. As he passed by Destiny and Serena on the street, he happened to see the headline of the PEG that Destiny was holding. He stopped to read it.
"Can I help you?" Destiny asked.
"I just wanted to read that headline." Tyson said without taking his eyes off the story.
Destiny glanced at Serena. She didnt know whether to hand Tyson the paper or not, but before she could decide one way or another, Tyson said, "Thank you," and with a big grin on his face he left the two ladies and went into the PEG to see his sister.
Kimberly looked up from the article she was writing when she heard someone clearing their throat. Turning around she saw her brother with a big loopy grin on his face.
Tyson couldnt hold it in any longer and he started laughing.
"Whats so funny?" Kimberly wanted to know.
"Tyson seeing a paper picked it up and held it in front of his sister. "This!" And he started laughing again.
"Whats wrong with it?" Kimberly asked as she grabbed the newspaper from his hand.
"Its so sappy. Whats the matter cant you find anything better to put in the paper? Are you having problems, sis? Cant you write any real news? So you have to put your own personal opinions in the paper." Tyson smirked. "Ill be glad when they find Jacy and get her back here to do the newspaper."
"OOOH!" Kimberly was angry, and she smacked the newspaper against her leg. "Id like to see you do better, brother dear." She yelled at him.
"Oh no, I already have another job, and Im enjoying it totally. It looks like Im better at it then you are at the newspaper." Tyson said, and then he grinned and started out of the office. He liked getting under his little sisters skin.
Lou was heading over to the hotel for lunch when she happened to see an unusual thing, and she stopped to watch the scene.
Infuriated Kimberly stormed after her brother and on her way she grabbed a stack of papers and started throwing them at Tyson. Tyson stopped and turned around when he felt something hit his back. Kimberly was grabbing the newspapers that fell to the floor and she was throwing them again at her brother.
Tyson started picking up papers and throwing them back at his sister. This made Kimberly even madder and she increased her pace at grabbing newspapers and tossing them at him. Tyson was being hit with so many papers that he was backing out of the door to stop them from hitting him. But on his way out the door he stumbled backwards and fell to the boardwalk. Seeing her brother sprawled out on the boardwalk cracked Kimberly up so much that she could hardly get her breath and tears were rolling down her eyes.
Tyson smiled and then laid flat out on the boardwalk. Kimberly calmed down, and she grabbed up some newspapers and laid them over Tysons body. Tyson just laid there and watched as she did this. After she covered his whole body up even his head, she began an eulogy and it ended with, "Here lies Tyson covered with newspapers because he couldnt realize that his sister was a good newspaper woman, so he had to the facts to his grave with him." And Kimberly giggled at the end, but then when she saw Lou staring at them, she stopped and put on a serious face with her hands folded in front of her.
When Tyson realized that Kimberly was no longer laughing, he finally pulled the newspapers off his face and sat up. He saw where Kimberly was directing her gaze, and he turned around to see Lou. Tyson quickly shoved off the rest of the newspapers and stood up. He smoothed down his hair and then turned to his sister, "Im glad you thought it was so funny, but its me who gets the last laugh."
"How so?" Kimberly asked.
"Youre the one who has to clean up this mess." Tyson replied as he took his leave.
Kimberlys grin quickly faded as she realized that her brother was right. She stooped down to start retrieving the messed up newspapers. As she stood upright again, she watched as Lou rode out of town, and her brother went to mount his own horse to make his leave. She wondered if Lou was taking square dancing lessons. She would have to ask her brother next chance she got. If he was taking them, maybe she could ask him to teach her.
After seeing the funny display put on by Tyson and Kimberly, Lou decided that it was time to get Tyson out of the bunkhouse. She was getting to attached to him, and she didnt like that. So after heading out of town on Lightening, she headed for Caller Bobs place to pay Tysons fine, so that he could go back to work at the saloon.
