JUNE 2, 1860

Kimberly stepped outside of Cromwell's Mercantile, it was early morning, and she had woken up early. She was just about to bite into the apple in her hand, when she saw Jacy on the other side of the street. She quickly crossed over to say hello to her friend.

"Hi Jacy, I havent seen you in a while, how are you?"

Jacy smiled as she recognized Kimberly coming towards her, "Oh pretty good actually, how about you?"

"Im doing okay. Um, I was going to ask you if I could submit something to the Gazette, but its okay if you dont have room for it" Kimberly flicked away the hair that had blown into her face.

"I love getting contributions from the townsfolk, thats what makes the Gazette so good.

So what are you thinking of submitting?" Jacy asked as Kimberly bent to pick up the apple she had just dropped.

Kimberly started to search through her purse "Oh its just a little poem. I have it here if you want to have a look at it." She said as she pulled a piece of wrinkled paper out.

"Great, Im sure this will be just the thing to brighten up the new edition," Jacy started to straighten out the piece of paper.

"Okay, well, Ill let you get back to it then, I better be off. I promised that Id make breakfast this morning, and Im already late." Kimberly said as she started to walk in the opposite direction.

"See you later," Jacy waved goodbye, then averted her attention to the poem.
