MARCH 11, 1861
Tyson leaned on the bar and surveyed the scene. The Rusty Trigger had been pretty quiet lately, with today being no exception. He sighed as he rested his head on the bar top, vaguely thinking that it would have been wiser if he had wiped it first. Tyson jumped when he heard a familiar voice ring out before him.
"Not falling asleep on the job are we?" Caller Bob laughed as the younger man warily raised his head to greet his accuser.
"Oh hi! No, just resting is all, not much happening around here you see," Tyson poured Caller Bob a sasparilla. "Its on the house if you dont tell Kimberly that you caught me asleep"
Caller Bob laughed as the glass was pushed towards him, "Thats an offer I cant refuse, coming up with ideas is thirsty work"
"Well, what kind of idea are you going for?" Tyson asked as he ran his fingers through his hair, again cursing himself for not wiping the bar.
"Actually, Ive been trying to figure out a way to raise the rest of the money for the church fund." Caller Bob stifled a laugh as he watched a peanut fall from Tysons hair.
Tyson grinned across the bar, "Oh, really? Well, youve come to the right place then. I am great at things concerning money."
Kimberly had been picking up glasses from neighboring tables when she found she couldnt resist joining in the conversation, "Yeah, like spending it"
"Give me a chance, Ill come up with something," Tyson assured Caller Bob with a wink.
"Well, we could always do something fun you know." Kimberly said as she put the empty glasses on the bar.
Tyson smirked at his sister, "Excuse Me? What would you know about fun? You've been moping around here and whinning about your boring life for the last couple of weeks"
Kim shot him a deathly stare and put her hands on her hips. "Gee, thanks for reminding me Ty. But maybe I just needed something to take my mind off my annoying brother, something like . . . this brilliant idea of mine"
Caller Bob took this moment to interrupt the banter between the two siblings. "What's this idea you have Kimberly?"
Kimberly smiled as she looked at the two of them, "Well, why don't we do something that we haven't done before, something unique, something, like a Rodeo"
Tyson burst into laughter, fully expecting Kimberly's idea to be one of the most ridiculous things he had heard. When her words finally sunk in, Tyson's feet suddenly became the most interesting things in the world.
Caller Bob grinned at Kimberly, "Why that's a great idea, we could get the whole town to help put it together."
"We could also raise money by having events that people pay to enter, then half the money can go towards the winning prize and half of it to the church, and we could have businesses sponsor different events." Kimberly shot a look of triumphant towards Tyson, who was still inspecting the condition of his shoes.
Caller Bob got up and held out his elbow. "Kimberly how would you like to share some more of your ideas over lunch?"
"I would love to," Kimberly took his arm and grinned at Tyson who was standing open mouthed as they walked out the door.
