OCTOBER 18, 1860
Kid jumped off Katy and headed in the direction of the post office. He straightened his hat and was trying to smooth out his clothes and tidy himself up when he felt someone brush past him. He watched as Ike appeared in front of him and started to preen himself, pretending that Kid was a mirror. "I've just come off a tough ride, Ike. Its only reasonable that I'd try to make myself look presentable." Kid said as Ike shrugged his shoulders and moved alongside him.
I have to go there anyway. Ike signed with a gleam in his eye. They reached the entrance to the post office, and Ike couldn't help notice that Kid was still brushing the dust of his clothes. He shook his head at Kid and grinned. Kid, ignoring his friend, went to the counter and smiled at Blythe who had just finished serving the previous customer. "Hi Kid, did you have a nice ride?" She asked as she took the mochilla he handed her.
Kid smiled at her, "It was ok, but I sure am glad to be home," he said, making Blythe blush.
Just then Ike joined Kid at the counter and gave Blythe a little wave. Kid rolled his eyes as he watched Ike sign to him.
Blythe looked at Kid questioningly when Ike had finished, "What did he say?"
Kid shot Ike a maddening look and blushed a deep pink, "Um, he was asking if Id asked you to the costume party yet."
Blythe leaned over towards Ike and half whispered, "No he hasnt yet, but my answers yes."
Kid easily heard her and smiled hugely, "Great!"
"I actually have my break coming up soon, so how about we go to the boutique and pick out our costumes," Blythe said as she stepped out from behind the counter.
"Youre coming, too, arent you Ike?" She added as her and Kid headed out the door. Ike shrugged his shoulders and followed. He didnt have anything else to do anyway.
Once in the boutique they encountered a dilemma. Blythes and Kids costumes had been easy enough to choose, but Ike couldnt come up with anything.
"Oh come on Ike, pick something already," Kid said as he paced around the small shop.
Ike signed to Grace who promptly interpreted.
"He says that he wants something that represents him," Grace smiled as Ike nodded.
Blythe rolled her eyes, "Well, why didnt you say that before, thats easy"
Kid looked at Blythe somewhat surprised, "It is?"
"Sure, Ike is tall, strong and silent. Now if that doesnt scream tree than I dont know what does," Blythe grinned as she watched Ike's eyes widen. "Now I really have to get back, so can we sort things out later?"
Kid shook his head at her, "How do you do it?"
"Do what?" Blythe asked as she was heading out the door
"Have the perfect answer for everything? How about I meet you later?" Kid asked hopefully.
Blythe smiled "Ok, this afternoon?"
"See you just did it again," Kid grinned as she waved goodbye to Ike and Grace and disappeared out of the doorway.
