APRIL 3, 1860
Teaspoon had called Jimmy, Kid and Lee into his office. He had a special run for them. He knew that Kevin Zachary, a notorious bank robber, had robbed 10 banks, killed 3 men and 2 women. And it had really surprised him when Kevin Zachary walked into his office a few hours ago and turned himself in. Kevin had heard about how Teaspoon was fair and that he had rode with the Texas Rangers. He knew that Teaspoon would see that he got a fair trail if he hadn't changed since then. He was living proof that people can change.
When he walked into that church, he was trying to hide from the law. Thats where he heard the sermon that changed his whole life. He lived with the pastor of Rock Creek till his conscious told him to turn himself in. He wasn't sure he could trust the sheriff in Rock Creek, but he knew Teaspoon Hunters reputation of being fair.
When Kid, Lee and Jimmy walked into Teaspoons office, Teaspoon informed them of their mission. "Boys I need you to take this prisoner to Fort Laramie. His name is Kevin Zachary, and hes supposed to be getting a trial. I want all three of you to go because hes a dangerous man." They nodded as Teaspoon gave each of them a badge and then they were on their way.
The fist night on the trail was uneventful. The riders learned what crimes the prisoner had committed and that he planned on pleading guilty at the trial. They also learned of his personality change and how Jesus was the One who changed him.
The second night was rainy, so they stayed in a hotel. Kid got two rooms thinking Lee would have a room to herself. He was surprised when Jimmy went into Lees room. But since Lee was to be a boy, he couldn't say anything.
After Kevin went to sleep. Kid sneaks into Jimmy and Lees room to talk with Jimmy. Only when he walked in he saw them kissing. Kid backed out of the room and went back to his own room.
The next morning going through her bundle, Lee came across what she was looking for, and she tossed it to Jimmy. She remarked, "Jimmy, that poem is good, but I don't remember any misunderstanding."
"What are you talking about?"
"The poem you wrote." She found it in the paper and showed it to Jimmy.
"I didn't write that. I don't know why it says I did. I'll ask Jacy about it when we get back."
"Okay"
Kid knocked on the door and told them it was time to go. The rest of the trip to Fort Laramie was uneventful.
On the trail home, Kid let Lee get ahead so that he and Jimmy could talk. He thought of her as a little sister and didn't want to see her hurt. "Jimmy what are your intentions with Lee?"
Jimmy thought a moment, he knew he would have to word his answer carefully. "Well, I love her. I want to be with her."
"I just dont want to see her get hurt." Kid stated.
"Thats the last thing I want to do. I love her to much to do that."
