MARCH 10, 1861

Kid, Buck and Ike rode into Dreamville. Buck waited outside while Kid and Ike went into the post office to see Blythe.

Ike started bumping Kid's shoulder with his. Pressuring him into asking Blythe. "Ummm . . . ummm . . . Blythe would you like to have supper with me before we go to your graduation ceremony?"

"Well, I was about to close up, and I am kind of hungry." She had only eaten a little bit today because she was somewhat nervous about the graduation tonight, so now she was feeling famished. "I would love to have supper with you, Kid."

Ike started to walk out and Blythe started around the corner and then she remembered. "Ike, oh Ike I almost forgot. You got a letter yesterday." She sorted through the mail and when she found Ike's letter she snatched it up. It had surprised Blythe because Ike had never received a letter before. "It's from a girl." Blythe handed the letter to Ike.

"A girl?" Kid was surprised. What girl would be writing Ike?

"Yep," Blythe was curious to know who the girl was because the signature on the envelope wasn't a name she had heard before, but then again she knew how shy Ike was, and how he liked his privacy, especially when it came to girls. "I'm sure Ike will tell us all about it if or when he wants to. Let's go eat." Blythe led Kid out of the post office. "Simon, I'm closing up now."

Simon nodded. "Ok, I'll see ya tonight at the ceremony." He watched as Blythe locked the door to the post office and turned the sign around to read closed. Then he watched as all three left the store

Ike stopped by Buck, and as Kid and Blythe stepped past him, Kid said to Buck, "Ike has a letter from a girl." Kid smirked. "We're going to eat." Kid led Blythe over to the Silver Spoon.

Buck looked at Ike. "Did Karen write you a letter?" Ike shook his head. The name on the envelope was unfamiliar to him. He didn't know who it was from. "Well, are you going to read it?" Ike just looked at Buck for a few seconds, and then he pulled the envelope out of his pocket. He opened it up and after reading it, he had a very stunned look on his face. On their way back to the station Ike told Buck what the letter had said. He would have to ask Teaspoon for some time off. Buck didn't like the fact of Ike going off on his own. If Ike decided to go, he would go with him.
