Kathleen’s birthday this year was on a Saturday. She had told no one when her birthday was. She didn’t want to draw attention to herself. Besides, she had games and things to plan for the picnic. She would spend today doing that.
She thought a relay race would be nice. They could divide up into teams of two and take turns with being judges. They could also have an Easter Egg hunt. Bythe was teaching them how to dye the eggs. She could have Blythe make sure that the children did not peak while she hid the eggs or the other way around. They could also have a horse race of their own. The adults were having a horse race and Kathleen only thought it fair for the children to have one of their own.
They could also play on the new equipment that Joshua would bring over, she hoped that it would arrive in time for the picnic. She had heard about his game that’s called the Human Knot. Where you get a group of people to stand in a circle and put their hands in the middle of the circle, cross your arms, and hold a person’s hand that is across from you and then try to untangle yourselves without letting go of anybody’s hand. She also knew of some games to play with the balls. They could play kick ball and they could see how long they could keep the ball in the air without one person hitting it twice. They could toss the ball to each other and have the person who catches it call out a fruit, vegetable, plant, animal, thing, or anything really and if they called out something that someone had already said then they would have to sit out until the game started over again. She wasn’t sure what else they could do at the moment, but she would think of more things when the time came.
