SEPTEMBER 8, 1860
Kathleen went into town after school. She saw that Steven was still bartending. She really missed seeing Richard when she came into town. She found Caller Bob and told him "Here's ten dollars for Richard to get back to his own job."
"I'll go inform him right after I see Teaspoon, Miss Boudreaux." Caller Bob said. Then he walked over to the jailhouse.
Now that he was back at the station Jimmy missed seeing Lee around. So digging through his trunk, he found his extra money. Saddling Sundancer and mounting up, Jimmy rode into town looking for Caller Bob. He spotted Caller Bob coming out of the sheriffs office. He dismounted and walked over to talk to him. "Caller Bob can I speak to you a minute?"
Caller Bob turned to see Jimmy and smiled, "Sure thing James what can I do for you?"
"Well, I would like to pay for Lee to return to the station." Jimmy said as he handed Caller Bob the ten dollars to switch Lee back.
Smiling he took the money. "Thats good. I'll tell her when I ride out to the Johnson Ranch to tell Richard his bail has been paid."
Jimmy nodded, "Thank you. I hope we made enough money for the town fund."
"I think we made quite a bit. There were a lot of people who took part in this job switch." Caller Bob answered.
"Im heading out that way now, do you want to tag along?" Caller Bob asked.
Jimmy nodded and mounted up, and Caller Bob did likewise. When Jimmy spotted Teaspoon in the jails doorway, he nodded at him.
Teaspoon, who had overheard the conversation, loudly said, "I need to see you and Lee after shes back at the station."
Jimmy nodded, "Okay, well be back later today."
Teaspoon nodded and watched as Jimmy and Caller Bob rode out of town.
Richard looked up as Jimmy and Caller Bob came ridding into the yard. Richard wiped his hands on his handkerchief, and without turning his head Richard called over his shoulder, "Lee, Jimmys here." Then Richard walked over to greet them.
"Hello Richard. Your bails been paid." Caller Bob said as he dismounted.
Richard smiled as he thought of whom might have paid it for him. Kathleen came to mind. "Thank you. May I ask who paid it for me?"
"It was Kathleen." Caller Bob said as they watched Jimmy dismount and walk over to Lee.
Richard shook his hand and thanked him. He was ready to get home. He liked it here but he belonged in town.
Caly had walked outside and heard that Richard could return to the saloon, so she hurried inside her home and returned with some money to pay for her father to get back home as well. Caller Bob promised that Steven would be back home that night. Caller Bob mounted up and rode off to town to see Steven.
Steven looked up as he heard the battered doors to the saloon open. He saw Caller Bob enter, and he waved to him. Steven smiled and waved back calling him over.
Caller Bob walked over to the bar. "I have something for you. Your bail had been paid."
"Who paid it?" Steven asked.
"I really shouldn't tell you, but Caly did. Caly hasn't been herself since she came back from that run with Tyson, and they need you at home."
"Thank you. I wont tell her you told me. I have been worried about her since Buck told me what had happened. I wish she would move forward, but she seems to be moving backwards." Steven said as he handed Caller Bob a beer.
Caller Bob knew he was more worried about Caly then he was saying. He knew Caly and Michael were the most important people in their fathers life since they had moved to town. It took a lot for him to do the job switch with everything they had been through, and now to have Caly having nightmares and flashbacks again. It worried him for he knew Caly was a kind, caring, free spirit normally. He smiled at Steven. "Thank you for the beer. Well, I hope Caly is going to be okay. If you need anything, please let me know."
Steven finished the days work and gathered his things. Getting King from the livery, he mounted up and headed home. Steven smiled when he saw the house come into view. Knowing that he was home again was a great feeling.
