MARCH 14, 1861
Kathleen was in town for supplies, but before she went to the store, she stopped in the saloon to see Richard. She sat down at the bar and ordered a sarsaparilla. When Richard brought her the drink, he looked around and nobody was around so he asked, "Kathleen, will go to the rodeo and to Javier and Lilly's wedding with me?"
Kathleen smiled, "Sure, Richard. I'd be honored to be your date."
"Are you going to enter any of the events."
"No, not this time. Maybe next time."
"I saw this real nice mantle clock that would be great for Javier and Lilly. Would you like to go in half with me to get it for them?"
"Sure. How much do you need?"
Kathleen told him the price of the clock. He forked over the money, and she went to the store, got her supplies and the clock and went home to wrap the gift.
