AUGUST 19, 1860

While Justin was in the general store he overheard Blythe, Kid and Cody in the post office discussing Jacy. After he heard Cody mention Samantha telling Jacy that she knew about her lies about her pa, Justin quickly left without them even knowing that he was there.

Justin was furious with his sister. How could she have done it? He shook his head for the thousandth time.

"I'm sorry Justin, but I thought it was about time to do something, since you didn't seem to be willing to tell her."

"It was my business Sam. You had no right to do what you did. And because of you she's gone, and nobody knows where." Justin growled.

"I didn't mean to make her run away. I really feel bad that she's gone too, but there's nothing I can do about it now." Samantha sadly stated.

Justin led Reflections out of his stall. He saddled him up and threw a blanket roll on his back and tied it down. Then he started to lead his horse out of the barn.

"Where are you going?" Samantha eagerly asked.

"I'm going to look for her." Justin matter of factly replied.

"How long will you be gone?" Samantha inquired.

"As long as it takes. I figured you could watch over things here for me." He turned around to stare at her.

"Sure, I can do that. I hope you find her. Tell her I'm sorry. Tell her I didn't want her to run away, and that . . . that I hope we can be friends again." Samantha had a lump in her throat and couldn't say any more. Jacy had been her friend. Her first friend in Dreamville. She hated what had happened and wished she had never gone to see and confront her about the lies about her pa. The lies hadn't really been hurting anybody, and she should have left it alone.

Justin nodded and gave her a quick smile. He swung up onto Reflections and rode off.
