JULY 10, 1860

Justin and Samantha were talking about her job at the Mustang Hill Ranch. Samantha really liked working for Karen. "Karen is very nice. It's good working for her."

"I'm glad you like your new job. I just wish I could have offered you more work here, but the town is still somewhat new, but it's growing. Maybe when more farmers and ranchers start settling here, I'll need you more." Justin felt bad that he couldn't have Samantha working at the livery full-time, but there just wasn't much work for him to do, and at times there wasn't any work.

"It's ok, Justin. I'm fine working at the ranch." Samantha loved breaking the broncs and taking care of the horses at Karen's place.

"How about we go to the hotel for supper tonight?" Justin was hungry, and he didn't feel like waiting around for Samantha to cook them up some grub.

"Sounds great to me," Samantha was tired from breaking broncs all day and didn't feel like cooking.

Samantha patted her horse, and then her and Justin walked over to the hotel. Laura showed them to their table and took their order. Samantha and Justin talked about lots of different things while waiting on their meals. As soon as their supper arrived, they both dug in ravenously.

On their way home Samantha asked if Justin had seen Jacy lately. Since Samantha had started working for Karen, she hadn't been able to see much of Jacy.

Justin didnt venture in the saloon much anymore, so his response was no. He knew thats where Jacy was now because of the job switching. He still planned on talking to her about her pa, but he decided to wait until her house was completed. Right now she had too much on her mind. And he was hoping that a good time to tell her would present itself.

Samantha knew that Justin intended on telling Jacy about what he knew about her pa. She just didnt know when he planned to do it. As she fell asleep that night, she wondered if she wouldnt do them both a favor by telling Jacy herself.
