APRIL 28, 1860
Charlie was sipping a beer and chatting with Richard when Joshua walked in. Joshua said hello to Richard and Charlie and as he stopped to stand beside Charlie, he ordered a beer. Richard sat Joshuas mug down in front of him. "So Joshua have you got anything for the wedding couple yet? Ive been trying to think of something to give them."
"Ive made Meg a wooden jewelry box, and I have Luke a tray so that he can put his watch, wallet, cologne or whatever on. They are both finished."
"Wow! Thats some nice presents. Charlies giving them a nice present, too. Go ahead Charlie tell him what youre giving Meg and Luke."
"Im giving them a free dinner on any night of their choosing." Charlie replied as he sat his mug of beer on the counter.
"That is nice." Joshua smiled at Charlie. He thought it was very kind of Charlie to give the couple a wedding present even though he had just moved into town and really didnt know them very well.
"Now I need something to give the wedding couple, but Ive thought and thought and still havent decided what to give them. You two have any suggestions." Richard asked.
"Well, you work in a bar, Richard." Charlie replied. "How about a couple of free beers for the couple."
"I dont think Meghan drinks beer." Richard replied. "It might be a nice gift for Luke, but then Id need something for Meghan."
"What about a couple bottles of wine?" Joshua suggested. "Im sure on their wedding night Meghan would drink some of that."
"Why, thats a good idea." Charlie nodded his head.
In agreement with the two, Richard also nodded his head and said, "Thats it. Thats what Ill give them. Thanks both of you." Relieved that he now knew what to give as wedding presents, he returned to his duties while Charlie and Joshua talked a while.
