MARCH 22, 1860
Joshua got the day off that afternoon so he decided to head off to town to have some fun, maybe play some poker. He went to the saloon, he sat down and ordered a drink, sarsaparilla and stood there alone for a couple of hours and when he was about to leave, Lou, one of the riders walked in.
"Lou, please join me," Joshua said seeing Lou drinking alone at the bar. Lou gave him a shy smile and went to sit down with him.
"Thanks Mr. Destone "
"Please, call me Joshua," he replied.
Lou nodded, "So what are you doing around town today?"
"I'm coming from a ride Joshua, and I just left the mail at the post office. I decided to stop by and drink some sarsaparilla," Lou answered.
"Well, I'm glad you are here boy. I don't like to drink alone," Joshua said. "Do you play poker son?" He invited Lou for a game
"Yes, Joshua."
"Let's go then, but just for fun son," Joshua exclaimed and then he started to deal the cards. Lou was a great poker player. If they were playing for money, Joshua would have left the game broke.
For the next few hours Joshua and Lou stood at the saloon, playing poker, talking and drinking sarsaparilla. Lou didn't have a run in the next couple days, so she would have some free time. After the game Joshua and Lou said goodbye, and each one rode back to their home.
