PRIMPING

FEBRUARY 11, 1860

Jimmy was taking Melissa to the dance. He hadnt meant to get roped into it. He had just wanted to suggest to her that since they both didnt have a date for the dance that they might have a few dances together. But she had misinterpreted what he was going to say, and before he could finish his sentence, she had assumed that he was asking her to the dance. He didnt want to break her heart. Teaspoon had talked with him on several occasions about Melissa. Neither Teaspoon or Jimmy wanted Melissa to get hurt, but so far Jimmy wasnt sure how to let Melissa down easy. He kept hoping an idea would present itself. Meanwhile he was trapped into taking Melissa to the dance.

He had explained everything to Lee, and she understood. But she also told Jimmy that the longer he didnt talk to Melissa than the harder it would be. But of course neither one wanted to break the young girls heart, so Jimmy decided that it would have to be after the Valentines Dance when he talked to her. He didnt want to spoil the dance for her.

Jimmy stopped in front of Jasmines Boutique, dismounted and walked inside. They had lots of beautiful dresses which he thought would look lovely on Lee. If only she could go to the dance as a girl. "Howdy maam." Jimmy tipped his hat to Jasmine.

"Good afternoon. Can I help you with something?" She replied.

"No, maam. Im sure I can find it on my own." Jimmy searched until he found exactly what he was looking for. He tried it on and the black suit fit perfectly. He paid Jasmine and left with his purchase. He walked over to the barbershop and got him a trim. He preferred his long hair and didnt want Luke to cut the length, just even his hair up a bit. After leaving the barbershop, he rode back home. There wasnt much happening in town. There wasnt many folks out on the street due to the cold weather, so Jimmy headed back to the waystation.
