MARCH 3, 1860

Jimmy was coming from Teaspoon's office late that day when he saw this girl sitting on the boardwalk picking up some papers on the ground.

"Can I help you, Miss?" He said smiling as he got close to Lilly.

Lilly looked up at the man and opened a shy smile, "Oh, no thanks you Mr.?"

"Hickok, James Butler Hickok, ma'am, but please call me Jimmy. I'm a rider for the Pony Express."

"Oh yeah, nice to meet you. I'm Lilly," she said. She remembered seeing him around town and at the Valentine's dance. "Thanks you, Jimmy, but I just slipped and fell down dropping these papers."

"Are you hurt? Do you want to see the doctor, Lilly?" He replied as he helped her finish picking the papers up.

"I'm fine," she answered shyly. She really appreciated Jimmy's attention, "Don't need to worry."

"Well, can I at least walk you to your place? It's kind of late," Jimmy said offering her his arm.

Lilly hesitated for a while, but in the end, she agreed. He seems to be a nice guy, she thought.

Jimmy and Lilly walked together towards her house, and as they passed by the general store, Javier who was standing at the doorway gave them a serious look, that Lilly liked. It seemed that he was jealous.

Jimmy left Lilly at her place and went back to the waystation. He had met a new friend. As for Lilly, she enjoyed the company. She lived alone, and she was happy for meeting someone new.
