DECEMBER 18, 1860
Jimmy had thought and thought about what to get Lee for Christmas. He knew that Lee liked to read, but he didn’t know what kind of book to get her. Knowing that not very many people know that Lee’s a girl, Jimmy decided to ask Caly for her help. Her and Lee seem to be getting closer. Saddling Sundance he rode over to the SJ Ranch. As he rode into the yard he spotted Caly riding towards the barn. "CALY" Jimmy yelled for her.
Caly smiled as she stopped Star. "Jimmy, I'm glad you came by. What brings you here?"
Jimmy laughed to himself. "Well, I'm glad your happy to see me. Actually I came to ask for your help."
Caly tied Star to the corral post. "Sure what can I help you with?"
"I need help figuring out what kind of book to get Lee."
Caly thought for a minute. "Let’s go into town, and I'll help you find the right one." Then she untied Star and mounded up again.
Jimmy nodded, "Okay."
They rode into town. Stopping in front of the store, they dismounted and tied them to the post. They headed into the store. They saw Samantha looking around.
Samantha smiled when she saw a nice new hat. She thought it would be perfect on Tally. She couldn't believe that he actually liked her. She picked up the hat and went and paid for it. She smiled when she spotted Jimmy and Caly entering the store.
Jimmy and Caly smiled back at her. They went over to where the books were. Caly looked through them, "Aww, here it is. I'm getting Buck this one. It’s a real good romantic one." Caly said as she handed Jimmy the book.
Jimmy looked at her confused. "Oh sorry Jimmy, It’s called Romeo and Juliet. Its a beautiful romance. Lee will love it."
Jimmy nodded taking the book. "She'll love it, thanks Caly."
"You're welcome Jimmy, remember to give it to her in private. That way no one will suspect she’s not what she says she is." Caly said as she took the book and paid for it.
"I will." Jimmy answered as he took the book and headed for the door.
They mounted and rode back to their homes with a wave good-bye.
