JUNE 6, 1861

Jesse was very happy when Tally told him that he had a free ride on the train to go see Rose. He hurriedly packed his things and rode with Tally to town. Rachel joined them. She wanted to see Jesse off.

Jesse hopped aboard the train. He found his seat and looked out the window. There was Rachel and Teaspoon. He was glad that they didn't mind him leaving. He was eager for the train to go. Soon he would be seeing Rose.

"Jesse, this is Cal," he introduced the porter. "He'll be looking after you while you're here." Tally stated. "Have a good trip, Jesse. I hope you have a wonderful time with your girl." Tally waved as he headed off the train.

The whistle blew and the train started moving. Jesse waved to Rachel and Teaspoon, and they waved back.

"I'm going to miss him, Teaspoon." Rachel hated for anybody to leave. She always felt sad when someone did.

"It's alright, Rachel. He'll be back soon. He's not leaving forever." Teaspoon tried to alleviate some of the pain.

"I know, but first it was Ike, now it's Jesse, and Jimmy's not back yet."

"But wasn't it you that instigated Jesse leaving?"

"Yeah, I know. I'm just sentimental." Rachel rubbed her eye where a tear was forming.

Teaspoon threw his arm around Rachel, "Come on, I'll buy you lunch before you head back to the station."
