SEPTEMEBER 12, 1861

Jemima slumped into one of the porch chairs.

Destiny watched her daughter worried. Something was bothering her. "Jemima is something wrong?"

Jemima nods, "Why don't I have a brother or sister?"

Destiny sat next to her. "Well Honey. Your father was taken from us before we could have another child."

Jemima nodded. "Why did Pa have to leave us?"

Destiny frowned she hated to lie to her daughter, but she never wanted her to know that she wasn’t planned. "God said it was his time honey."

Jemima nodded. She remembers the sermons about God calling people home to be with him. "Why don't you marry the preacher? Then Brianna and I could really be sisters."

Destiny smiled. "We’re not ready for that yet. It might happen someday. We just have to wait and see. But you and Brianna could still treat each other and act like sisters. Okay?"

Jemima nodded. "Okay" She hugged her mother, and then ran off to play with her best friend.

Destiny smiled as she watched her little girl go.
