JANUARY 12, 1860
Coming out of the schoolhouse Michael watches Jesse going towards Melissa, so he decided to take a seat somewhere else for lunch today. He watches them talking and is disappointed when Melissa throws her arms around Jesse.
Thinking to himself that Jesse must of asked her to the dance, angry and upset with his best friend he decides to ask Jemima who is sitting right next to him if she has a date for the dance. "Are you going to the dance?" Michael asked as he watched Jesse and Melissa.
"Well, I don't know. No one has asked me yet. Are you going?" Jemima looks over at him.
"I don't have a date yet, and I was wondering since you don't have a date, and I don't have a date would you like to go together?" Michael asked softly.
Smiling Jemima says, "Sure I'd like that to go with you."
Michael smiled back even thought his heart wasn't in it. They finished their lunches and then Jemima goes over to Erin and Rose to tell them she has a date for the dance. Erin is happy for her and Rose is too, even thought she's feeling a little sorry for herself because she doesn�t have a date yet.
