FEBRUARY 11, 1860
Javier took the envelope over to the PEG. It was a submission for the Cody’s Contest article that Mr. Hagan had ran in the newspaper when he was running things. He didn’t know if the new owners would publish it, but she had gave it to him, so he was going to try for her sake.
Jacy answered the door and found Javier standing there. "You don’t have to knock. This is a business not a home. I would keep the door open, but it’s too cold for that. Come on in!" Jacy smiled as her visitor entered.
"Thanks! I just didn’t want to barge in though. I have something for you." Javier hands Jacy the envelope.
Curious Jacy opens it up and reads what is inside. "This is good. I ran across that contest article a few days ago. I’ve been going through back issues of the PEG. But who wrote this?"
"I was sworn to secrecy. Sorry!" Javier replies.
"Well, thank you for bringing it to me. I will publish it soon. I always welcome articles." Jacy saw Javier to the door and he thanked her again and went back to the store. Jacy looked at the song again. Someone else out there must like Cody and she shrugged. It didn’t matter. There wasn’t a future for her and Cody anyway. But as she dropped the article on her desk, she did feel jealous and hurt that Cody might already have a girlfriend.
