PRIMPING

JANUARY 27, 1860

Jacy and Melissa went over to the barbershop. They both got trims for neither one wanted to cut their hair short. Next they went over to Jasmines Boutique. Their dresses, that had needed alterations, were to be ready for purchasing today.

"Hi Jasmine." Melissa called as they entered the store.

"Good morning, Melissa, Jacy." Jasmine said as she came out from behind the counter. "Your dresses are ready. I also have your petticoats and pettipants." Jasmine took their dresses off a rack. "Here you try them on and make sure they fit."

Melissa took her dress and petticoat and went into the dressing room. Her dress was pink with soft ruffles and her pink skirt had triple ruffles at the bottom with a white petticoat and pettipant to wear underneath. Jacys was a dressy sailor collar blouse with gold binding trim and gold buttons, the blue abstract print and solid skirt has bands of gold trim on the solid double ruffle with a white petticoat and pettipant as well. Their skirts were a bit above the knees so they needed the pettipants, so when they twirled the fellas wouldnt see their unmentionables.

After trying on their new dresses that fit, they bid Jasmine farewell and take their clothes home. Afterwards they retrieved Braids from the livery and rode over to Caller Bobs home. Rose was already there. Jesse and Jimmy riding double came riding in shortly after Melissa and Jacy. Next Walter, Teaspoon and Dev came riding in. Everybody partnered up with Rose as Walters partner, Walter knew how to square dance, but Rose didnt. She was there to learn along with Jimmy and Jesse. Melissa was Jimmys partner, and Jesse was Jacys partner. Teaspoon and Dev already knew how to square dance, but they were there so that there would be a complete square.

They practiced and ate lunch with Caller Bob, and then they practiced some more. Both Rose and Jesse were thrilled when they would end up being partners while doing some of the moves, but of course neither one let on. Rose was hoping after their practice that Jesse would ask her to the dance. Unfortunately it didnt happen.

Of course while dancing they messed up quite a bit, but by the time they all left they felt quite confident that they at least had some of the popular basic calls memorized. And Melissa told them that it didnt matter if they messed up some. It was all in fun.
