JUNE 14, 1861
She
knew it was just a matter of time before Lee showed up. She just hoped that her little
plan that she had set in motion would work. "Ok Jimmy, let's see how much you
remember." They were sitting outside having a picnic. "What do you do?"
"I'm
a Pony Express rider. I deliver the mail to waystations."
"Very
good. Now do you have a girlfriend?" She always liked asking him this question
because she loved the answer.
"Yes,
and before you ask. It's you." Jimmy shyly grinned.
"You're
doing very well."
"Thanks."
Jimmy took a bite out of his chicken leg. She was glad that her sister hadn't forgotten
how to cook. Her sister definitely cooked better than she did.. She sure loved being with
Jimmy. He was so handsome and very polite. She could look at him forever and not get
tired. "Ok, so what's the next question?"
She
picked up a napkin and gently wiped Jimmy's mouth. "You had something on ya."
Jimmy nodded. "Your next question is who is it that likes you and just can't accept
that I'm your girlfriend?"
"Hmmm
. . ." He paused to teased her. A frown went across her face as she thought he had
forgot. He smiled and said, "Her name's Lee. She works at the Johnson ranch. She
wants to marry me, and she won't take no for an answer."
"Good,
good. You're learning very quickly."
"I'm
learning, but I'm not remembering anything." Jimmy tossed his chicken down on his
plate disgusted that he couldn't even remember Jacy or the love that they had shared.
"I
know it's hard, but you just have to give it some time. The doc said it could come back in
weeks, months or even years. I'm sorry you've lost your memory, but you just have to make
the best of a bad situation." She smiled and moved closer. "You can fall in love
with me all over again." She kissed him on the cheek, staying close she starred into
his eyes. Jimmy leaned in closer and as he was about to kiss her, he heard hoof beats and
moved back turning around to see who was coming. It was Melissa.
"Sorry
to interrupt, but we've been waiting for you."
"Waiting?"
Oh no it had slipped her mind. She was to suppose to meet Melissa and Tally in town to
present the bibles that they were donating to the Reverend for the new Dreamville church.
"Yeah,
you know the bibles." Melissa informed her.
"Now
I remember. I'm sorry it slipped my mind."
"I
can see why." Melissa mischievously smiled at Jacy.
"Jimmy,
I'll be back in a little bit and then we can go for that ride I promised you." She
said as she stood up and brushed down her dress.
"Hey
why don't I go with you? That could be our ride." Jimmy stood up eager to do
something.
"NO!"
Seeing his surprise look, she explained. "No, I don't think that's a good idea yet. I
want to supply you with more information before you meet anybody that way you won't look
lost when you see people in town."
"Well,
I could remember names and things more if I had faces to go with them."
"Please
Jimmy for me," she grabbed his shirt and looked into his eyes, batting hers,
"Please stay home this time. I promise I'll take you to town real soon, ok?"
Well
how could he say no to that beautiful face. He smiled down at her. "Alright, I'll
clean this up and I'll see you when you get back."
"Thank
you." She kissed him on the cheek and then went to the barn to saddle Justice. She
rode off to town with Melissa.
As
she and Melissa arrived in town, Tally walked over from standing in front of the store to
their horses as they were coming down the street. "Do you know how long I've been
waiting?" Directing his question to Jacy. But he couldn't keep a straight face, his
smile shown through. "I've got all the bibles loaded into the buggy."
"I
still think that we should have waited until the church was finished." She stated as
her and Melissa followed along behind the buggy.
"I
thought about it, but I didn't want to keep all these bibles out at the ranch, and I
didn't know that they would get here so soon." Tally replied.
Tally
jumped down out of the buggy and went and knocked on the boarding house door. Destiny came
to the door and Tally asked to see the Reverend. It just so happened that Sean was nearby
and he heard Tally asking for him, so he came to the door.
"Reverend,
my sisters and I would like to donate these bibles to the church." Tally handed him a
bible.
"We
have more in the back of the buggy." Melissa chimed in.
"Why
thank you. This is most generous of you. Destiny do you have a place where we can store
these bibles until the church is finished?" Sean looked at Destiny for an answer.
"Yes,
I have a store room." Destiny smiled at Sean to show that she didn't mind storing the
bibles.
"We'll
help you move them." Tally offered.
"That
would be great." Reverend Sean said.
They
all pitched in and it didn't take long for the bibles to get moved to their new resting
place. Afterwards Tally, Melissa and Jacy went back to Starshine Haven. Tally went to
spend time with his other sister to try to help her to remember who she was.
Melissa
went to spend some time with her whole family. She couldn't wait until Jewel remembered
who she was. She hoped that she would like her. She seemed to like her a little now, and
her sister, Jacy, went home to spend time with Jimmy. She wanted to get him to fall deeply
in love with her, especially before Lee started stirring up trouble.
As
Ted was trying to think of someone who might want to be his partner, a couple of people
entered, so he had to abandon his thoughts in order to attend to business. Ike and Noah
sat down, and Ted took their order.
As
Noah had his back towards the dining room entrance he didn't see the pretty lady enter,
but Ike did. He thought she was beautiful. He wondered who she was for he had never seen
her in town before. But before he could ask Noah who she was, she was gone.
