APRIL 20, 1860
A week ago Ike had rode out to the Mustang Hill Ranch, but to his dismay Karen wasn’t there. So today he was going to try again. He was somewhat nervous because he was going to ask her to the picnic.
As he arrived she was coming out of the barn. She waved to Ike. Ike dismounted and smiled.
"What brings you out here, Ike?" Karen inquired.
Ike signed that he would like to know if Karen would like to go to the Easter picnic with him.
"Hmmm . . . let me think about it. Ok, I’d love to go with you." She said as she started walking to the house. She had already promised Jacy that she would help by bringing jugs of lemonade for the picnic. "Would you like to stay for supper?" Ike nodded and followed her inside.
Karen talked about her day and asked Ike questions. They had a wonderful time over supper. Ike enjoyed the conversation and the mean, and as he departed the house, he gave Karen a quick kiss on the cheek. He mounted Shyster and waved to Karen before he rode off.
