Drucilla was looking over Joshua’s shoulder as he was redesigning Jacy’s home for the umpteenth time. Several times he thought he had it completed, but Jacy had added or changed something. He knew she was eager to make it perfect and that was understandable, but it seemed to him that maybe she was just trying to delay building the house. But he couldn’t fathom why.

Drucilla told him that she was going to ride into town, and he told her goodbye without turning around. He was deeply involved in his work. Drucilla could understand that sometimes she would do the same thing. She hated to quit on anything when she was enthralled in it.

Drucilla said hello to Melissa on the boardwalk, and upon entering the PEG she almost ran into Jacy. "Are you going somewhere?" She asked with a grin. Because lately she had noticed, Jacy was spending a lot of time with the Pony Express rider Cody or Jimmy. She wasn’t quite certain which one, if either one, was her beau.

"It can wait." Jacy replied. "Did you need something?"

"I wanted to get you to print this ad in your paper. Please run it every month for me. How much will it be?"

"It will be two dollars a month." Jacy stated.

Drucilla pulled out some cash and handed Jacy ten dollars. "That will pay me for five months."
