NOVEMBER 12, 1861

Destiny frowned as she watched the three girls. Ana didn't seen to be enjoying in. She remembered the nightmares that woke the young girl at night. “Ana come here please.” Destiny called out to the young girl.

Ana turned to her mother. She had been so nervous at the meeting with the judge. She was so glad that she had a family now. “Yes Ma?” she went over to where Destiny sat.

Destiny brushed a few strands of hair from her face. “What's wrong? I heard you wake with nightmares last night.”

Ana looked down, “I can't tell you. I'll get in trouble.”

Destiny could understand that fear. “Ana honey no you won’t. I Promise.”

The young girl looked at the woman that had showed her so much love and took her in. “But they said I would,” She wiped at the tears that threaten to fall.

Destiny’s heart went out to the girl. She pulled her into a hug, “I promise honey. You wont get in trouble. Your ma will make sure of that.”

Ana clung to her new mother knowing she should tell, but she was too afraid. After a few minutes, she finally decided that she was safe enough to tell her new family. “They used us. Said it was our time to serve men as they wanted.”

Destiny fought to hold onto the anger she felt at the men that now sat in jail. “He was wrong honey. It's wrong unless you are old enough and want to do it.” She tightened her hold on her oldest child.

Ana nodded, glad she told someone finally. It was almost like a weight was lifted from her shoulders. “Can I help with Thanksgiving dinner?”

Destiny smiled. “Sure I'm not sure what we're doing yet. But how about helping me with supper tonight.”

Ana nodded, “Okay.”

The two of them headed inside to start supper for everyone.
