AT THE VALENTINE'S DANCE!

FEBRUARY 14, 1860

So Cody would go to the dance by himself. Many times he had been to dances and danced with lots of pretty girls. This time would be no different, but he might not be as happy as the other times when he really only wanted to hold one girl in his arms.

Jacy and Mr. Simmons had already left their tables to join everybody at the dance. All their items were sold and Cody was down to his last two items. He was trying hard to sell them before he closed up shop and joined the dancers.

A little down in the dumps Cody arrived at the dance. He never had the time to apologize to Jacy because either him or her had been busy selling items. He scanned the corral to see if he could find her. He was hoping to run into her at the dance, so he could apologize and maybe she would forgive him and they could have a few dances together. The place was so crowded with people dancing and others gathering around to watch that Cody couldnt find her.

Earlier Cody had spotted the perfect gift for Jacy and it was in his pocket. He had almost taken it out of his pocket and gave it to Jacy when he was over at her table purchasing raffle tickets. He had tried to apologize to her then but other people had come up to her table and had captured her attention, so he decided to wait on his apology.

His hand was in his pocket fingering the extraordinary gift now. Cody wanted so much to give it to his special girl but he couldnt find her. He walked around some more and talked among friends and he even danced with some of the ladies but still his eyes wandered, searching for her.
