JUNE 30, 1860

After seeing Destiny out the door, Cody turned back to Javier and smiled. "Yeah, I know we haven't eaten yet. If you can spare me for a few minutes, I'll run over to the hotel and get us a few sandwiches?" Javier nodded and smiled as he watched Cody run out the door.

As he headed towards the hotel restaurant he bumped into Jimmy. He was also heading in the same direction. Cody smiled when he saw the look of determination on Jimmys face "Having trouble at the saloon, Jimmy?" Cody asked.

"Naw, its just different then delivering the mail." Jimmy gruffly replied.

Slapping Jimmy on the shoulder Cody said, "Well, how about joining me for some lunch?"

"Sure, why not. I need to eat anyway." Jimmy followed Cody to the hotel. They ordered a few sandwiches and drinks. They sat outside the hotel on a bench. After taking a bite of his sandwich Cody said, "You havent spent much time around Caly when shes at the station. And you watch Lee from a distance, why?" Cody was concerned for his friend.

Shrugging Jimmy sighed and said, "I don't know what to say to Caly. Im afraid that I will say something to bring all those memories back to her, and I don't want to that. If you had seen her when Buck brought her out of that shack, you would understand. She looked the same, but when you looked in her eyes you could see the fear that had control of her. I can't bare to see that look in her eyes again. As for Lee I feel bad because I let that guy rape and threaten her. I wish she never had to go through that." Picking up his sandwich to hold in front of his mouth, he looks over at Cody and then continues. "That creep cause those two so much pain, and we couldnt' stop him from doing it." Jimmy then took a bite out of his sandwich.

"Just be yourself, and you wont hurt either of them. It happened back in March. Caly's back to herself, and I don't see it bothering Lee at all." Cody said chewing on the last of his sandwich.

Jimmy knew Cody was right. Then his thoughts turned to Lee. Her nightmares had stopped. He missed her since he had been in town. But he knew she'd be okay and would come to town to see him when she could. He knew she might be doing more runs what with Luke, Joshua, Simon, and Tyson, in place of Cody, Kid and himself.

He smiled when he recalled how Lee and him would sit on the bunkhouse porch after she woke from a nightmare, and she would let him hold her. He remembered how her hair smelled and how soft it was, even though she was pretending to be a boy.

Jimmy was startled from his thoughts when Cody nudged him shaking his head. Cody had a feeling he was thinking of Lee. Then said, "Well, I better get back to the store before Javier comes looking for me."

"Yeah. I better get back before Jacy has my head for not helping out." Jimmy replied.

"Tell Jacy Ill be over tonight after I close the store." Cody stated.

Jimmy nodded. Then they both stood and headed to their new jobs.
