DECEMBER 1, 1860
Rachel finished putting up her dishes and was getting ready to take the pan of water outside and dump it when Cody came in. She saw he had a box in his hand. "Cody youre late for lunch, but if your hungry I guess I could fix ya something."
"No thanks, Rachel. I had lunch with Jacy at the Silver Spoon. I just stopped in to tell you I was back." He replied as he ran his hand along the box thinking about Jacy.
"What's in the box?" Rachel inquired.
"I bought Jacy a Christmas present. It's a necklace with a 'J' on it. I was just trying to figure out a special way to wrap it. Do you have any ideas, Rachel?" Cody glanced up from the box to look at Rachel.
"Hmmmm . . . well right off hand I can't think of anything but give me some time and I'll see what I can come up with." Rachel replied.
"Rachel?"
"Yeah Cody?"
"Could you keep it for me? I know it will be safe with you, and when you figure out some way special to wrap it, you will already have it, so just go ahead and wrap it, ok?" Cody asked.
"Alright, I'll do that." Rachel took the box from Cody. "Cody take out that bucket and dump the water for me, and then I could use some wood."
"Yes ma'am." Cody retrieved the bucket of water and took it outside.
Rachel took the box and put it on her dresser. She would get it wrapped and handed back to Cody before Christmas.
