Cody took Charlie to the Triple M Ranch to get a horse. He picked out a Sorrel quarter horse and paid Gavin for him. Charlie named his horse Jack. Cody rode on to the waystation while Charlie also paid Gavin for a saddle and reins.

When Charlie rode into town, he met Teaspoon, and Teaspoon welcomed him to the town and showed him where the livery was.

Charlie went to the livery and dismounted. He walked in the stable and asked, "Hello, any body here?"

Justin came out of a stall and said, "Hello, sorry about that, I was taking care of this horse. What can I do for you?"

"My name is Charlie Montgomery. I'm new in town. I just bought the Silver Spoon Restaurant. I'll be needing to board my horse, Jack."

"OK, I can take care of that for you. My name is Justin Calhoun, and I'm the only blacksmith and owner of this livery. My sister is Samantha, she sometimes helps me out."

"Pleased to make your acquaintance, Mr. Calhoun."

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Montgomery."

A few days latter, Charlie went back to the livery. "Hello, Mr. Calhoun."

"Good Morning, Mr. Montgomery. This is my sister, Samantha. You remember, I told you about her the other day when you brought Jack in."

"Yes, you did, but you failed to mention what a beauty she is." Charlie said as he took Samantha’s hand and kissed it. "It's a pleasure meeting you, Miss Calhoun." He said as he smiled.

"What can we do for you Mr. Montgomery?'' Samantha asked.

"Well, I've decided to go for a ride to get to know this area a little better. Could you please get Jack ready for a ride?"

"Certainly, Mr. Montgomery." Justin said as he left to get Jack ready. When he came back he saw Samantha smiling at something that Charlie was saying.

When Charlie saw that his horse was ready, he mounted and rode off. As he was riding he met Richard MacDonald.

Richard showed Charlie where the ‘watering hole,’ ‘fishing hole,’ and ‘swimming hole’ were. When they rode by the waystation, Cody and Jimmy were fixing a fence and Cody introduced Jimmy to Charlie, Jimmy introduced Richard to Cody, and Cody and Jimmy introduced the two men to the others at the waystation.

Charlie learned that Sheriff Hunter also was the stationmaster of the Dreamville Pony Express Station. When they got back to town and after putting up the horses, they were parting ways, and Richard said, "If there is anything I can do to help you out, let me know."

"Well, I need a cook for the restaurant. I enjoy doing the cooking, but sometimes I just need to get away by myself."

"Well, I can't help out with that one, but Miss Hagan at the newspaper office might be able to put an ad in the newspaper for ya."

"Thanks, I'll do that." Charlie said as he shook hands with Richard. He then walked over to the PEG office.

The sign in the window said open, so he walked in. Jacy was hard at work on the newspaper, and Melissa was sitting at a desk doing her homework. Melissa noticed Charlie first and asked, "Can I help you, Sir?"

"I was looking for someone who could help me place an ad in the paper."

"I can do that for you." Jacy said as she looked at her sister who went back to doing her homework.

"Thank you, Miss . . ."

"My name is Jacyella Hagan, but most people call me Jacy."

"My name is Charlie Montgomery. You can call me Charlie. I just bought the restaurant, and I need a cook to help me out. Do you think that I can place an ad in your paper?"
