OCTOBER 4, 1860
Charity opened the door of the dress shop and winced at the amount of people at the counter. She decided to step back a bit and browse around until the store emptied out a bit and she could have a chance to talk to Grace about her costume. As she fingered some of the ready-made dresses in the back of the store she heard the door open and then complete silence. Charity made her way around and looked to see who had walked in, she smiled. "I should've known." She said quietly.
Shaking her head she approached Elena who was standing her ground in front of the group of disapproving ladies. "Well, you certainly seem to know how to make an entrance."
Elena glanced at Charity and smiled. "I certainly do."
"I wouldn't worry about those women, they just don't know how to handle a strong woman."
Elena smirked. "I don't care about them. They're just mad cause their husbands come to me for satisfaction, and I make a nice living from it. So what are you doing here?"
Charity shrugged. "I'm ordering a costume for the Saunders Halloween party."
"Really? What are you going as?"
"I have no idea. I heard Meghan left a list of costumes though, are you working that night?"
Elena shook her head. "Anjanette is closing up for the evening, she might open up after the party winds down though."
"Are you going to the party then?"
"I certainly am."
"I was afraid of that." Charity said with a grin. "So what are you going as?"
"Meghan."
The gossip's mouth fell open. "You're kidding."
"No I'm not. I've ordered a very nice red wig, and Grace was nice enough to make me a very proper Meg like dress, which I'm here to pick up. Now let's see what you can be." Elena stepped back and looked over Charity with a critical eye. "How about a gypsy?"
The other woman looked down at herself. "Really? You don't think that's too . . . well you know."
"No, I think you'd look fabulous. So are you going with Cody?"
Charity frowned slightly. "No. I'll be going alone, you?"
Elena smiled. "I'll be going with you."
"Thanks Elena."
"Your welcome." She replied with a smile then glanced over at the counter. "Look those woman left let's go order you a costume and pick up mine."
