THE BAKE/CRAFT/RAFFLE SALE!

FEBRUARY 14, 1860

Bird was watching CJ and Eddie moving the wagon towards the boarding house when he heard a noise coming from Catherine's office. He knocked on the door and went in. Catherine was all dressed up, wearing a beautiful dark red dress. Bird also noticed the bottle of whisky on the desk, and Catherine holding a glass. She looked at him walking in, and she drank the whiskey, dropping the empty glass on the desk.

"Hey Bird, come in," She said standing up. She was feeling a little dizzy.

"Are you ok?" Bird asked concerned.

"Oh, yeah. I'm fine," Catherine affirmed happily, "I'm just drinking a little bit."

"I can see that," Bird replied talking and looking at the almost empty bottle.

"Come on Bird, I'm fine if I need to go to this dance thing I want to have some fun tonight ok?" She said walking towards him smiling. It was easy to see that the alcohol was affecting her. "Now, Bird, can you please go saddle my horse," she completed walking out off her office.

"Wait a minute," Bird exclaimed, "I won't let you ride drunk like that. You will drink some coffee, and then I will drive you to the Ranch"

"I don't want coffee. I want my damn horse now," Catherine yelled furiously. Bird knew Catherine long enough to know that this discussion was a lost battle. He saddled her horse and helped her to mount. Worried Laura watched the whole event.

"Bird!!" Laura exclaimed, "You can't let her go like that."

Bird knew that Catherine would find trouble showing up like that at the dance, but he also knew she would be ok.

"Bird!!" Laura insisted.

"Don't worry Laura, she will be fine. Today is her birthday, and she doesn't like birthdays. Laura and that is her way of dealing with it." Bird affirmed starting to walk to the kitchen. Laura followed him.

Catherine rode slowly to Caller Bob's ranch, the wind felt good to her, and she wasn't feeling the whiskey too much now. At the ranch Catherine bought 2 tickets of each raffle, she also bought one heart shaped locket on a gold chain, 4 wooden animals, a wolf, 2 eagles and a horse. She had decided not to eat anything, but she bought a cookie.
