FEBRUARY 20, 1860

Catherine rode back to the town after one of her evening rides. As she was passing by the jailhouse she saw Sheriff Teaspoon sitting down on the porch.

She stopped and decided to talk to him. Teaspoon was always nice to her and she didn't see a problem having an innocent talk with him.

"Good evening sheriff, " She walked towards him.

"Miss Catherine," he exclaimed standing up and tipping his hat, "Please have a seat. How are you today?"

"Thanks," Catherine said sitting down next to him, "I'm fine sheriff and you?"

"I can't be better, though it's chilly, I have my coffee with me and the town is at peace."

Catherine smiled. Teaspoon was a good man, and Catherine wanted to be friends with him, but she knew that could never be.

"Do you want a cup of coffee, Miss Catherine?" He asked.

"No, thanks sheriff, so did you enjoy the dance? " Catherine questioned trying to make conversation.

"Oh yes, Miss Catherine, it was a great night, don't you think? I noticed that you left early though," Teaspoon commented.

Catherine didn't answer. She just nodded turning her eyes from him.

"Any special reason?" Teaspoon asked hoping not be too curious. He knew Catherine didn't like to talk about herself.

"No sheriff, I had others thing on my mind that day." She explained shyly.

Teaspoon looked into her eyes, and he knew she wanted to say something, but she wasn't finding a way to say it.

"Did something happen at the dance, Miss Catherine? " Teaspoon asked as he was drinking his coffee.

Catherine hesitated for a minute. She wanted to ask his advice because sooner or later Jimmy might tell Teaspoon out about the kiss. And Teaspoon seemed to be the right man to help her with her doubts.

"Oh, yeah," she starts, I kissed Jimmy Hickok. What I should do now? She thought about saying that, but she didnt instead she continued with, "I bought a heart shaped locket at the dance sheriff, and I lost it somewhere," she said instead.

"A locket?" Teaspoon replied looking at her

"Yes, I looked for it in the hotel these last few days, and I couldn't find it. I think I might have lost it at the dance, so can you please let me know if someone mentions that they found it? " She said as she stood up.

Teaspoon stood up too, "Sure Miss Catherine, Ill let you know.

Catherine smiled at him, "Thanks sheriff, see you later," and with that she mounted her horse again.

"See you later, Miss Catherine," Teaspoon exclaimed as he followed her to her horse, "And Miss Catherine, like I told you before if you need to talk about anything, I'm here to help. Please visit me anytime."

Catherine nodded and rode off. Teaspoon watched her ride towards the hotel, and then he went back to his chair and to his coffee.
