Buck left her place, Caly ran to the barn and resaddled Starbright and rode into town as
fast as she could as she reached the bank she noticed all the wagons out front.
Dismounting she went in and saw Ted as she got into line. Ted looked up and waved at her. As she reached the window she said, "Hello Ted. How are you today?" Smiling Ted answered, "Hello, I am fine. How are you today Miss Johnson? And what may I do for you today?" Shaking her head she replied, "I'm fine, but Ted please call me Caly everyone else does. I would like $10.00 from my account please." Ted handed her the money and wrote it down in his book. Before turning to leave, Caly said, "I hope to see you at the dance. Good day Ted." Ted nodded and replied, "I hope to be there. Will you save me a dance? Caly nodded that she would save him a dance. Good day Miss J . . . I mean Caly." Smiling she waved to him and left the bank. She mounted up and rode to the dressmakers shop. After tying Starbright to the post she went inside and was greeted by Mrs. McGregor. Jasmine said, "Well, Caly, what may I do for you today?" Feeling kind of shy she said real fast, "I need at dress for the dance." Mrs. McGregor smiled and said, "Well, judging by how fast you are talking a young man has already asked you to the dance. Am I right?" Caly nodded yes as she took the dress Mrs. McGregor handed her. After trying on several she decided on the pink and peach one, and she bought a hat to go with it. She paid Mrs. McGregor $6.20 and got on her horse and headed home. |
