NOVEMBER 24, 1860

Caly sat at her father’s desk writing in her journal. She thought about how she had enjoyed the Halloween party. She blushed when she remembered how sweet and protective Buck was of her. She couldn't believe Charlie was such a gentlemen. He was like all the rumors she had heard. She knew he visited the bordello, but she didn't mind.

As she thought about the party. She was glad she had got to know Vanessa. She wished there was something she could do for her. But she didn't know what to do, other then to be her friend. And that’s just what she planned on doing. Caly shut her journal. She sat back and remembered the day she started keeping the journal, like Lee had suggested. She remembered Lee saying Lynn had told her that it helps sometimes to write down what your feeling.

Caly smiled she knew it helped and her nightmares were easing up some. It also helped that the riders seemed to listen when she needed to talk, especially Buck and Lee.

Caly was startled from her thoughts by a knock on the kitchen door. Putting her journal in the desk drawer and locking it. She went to the door. She was startled but pleased to see Ivy standing there.

"Hello Ivy, please come in and have a seat." Caly stepped aside and let Ivy in. "Is something wrong?" Caly asked as she got some tea going.

Ivy sat at the table and summoned up the courage to talk about it. "Caly, I know we don't know each other very well, but I was hoping you could help me with something."

Caly turned hearing the desperation in her voice. "What’s happened Ivy?"

Caly asked as she placed the tray on the table and poured the tea.

"Oh, it’s not Noah. It’s Clover. She’s always seems to interrupt me and Noah all the time."

Caly thought for a minute. "I'll do what I can to help." While Caly and Ivy sat there talking, Charlie rode into the station looking for Buck. He saw Noah leading Trouble from the barn.

"Hi Noah, is Buck around?"

"Oh hi Charlie, no he’s not here. He mentioned he had plans with Corey today. Can I help you?"

"Maybe you can. I was heading over to Caly's to see if she would like to go for a ride and have a picnic, but she won’t go without a chaperone. Would you like to go along? I would really appreciate it."

Noah thought about it. "Sure It will give me time with Ivy without Clover around."

Charlie smiled, Noah mounted up and they headed over to Caly's.

As they rode into the yard they saw Steven talking with Michael. Steven walked over, greeted and chatted with Charlie and Noah. Michael watched as his father nodded and shook Charlie’s hand. Michael didn't like the idea of his sister seeing Charlie. He didn't trust him. Michael sighed and headed for the barn. He saddled Bear and rode off towards the station.

Just as Charlie and Steven were headed for the house. Caly and Ivy came outside. They smiled at Charlie and Noah. Charlie cleared his throat and said. "Caly I was hoping you would join me for a ride and a picnic this fine day."

Caly looked at her father. Steven nodded saying, "Its okay with me. He asked me just now and Noah has agreed to be your chaperone."

Caly smiled. "Alright. I would love to go. As long as Ivy comes along."

Ivy smiled at Noah. She knew just what Caly was trying to do. "I would love to come along."

"It’s settled then. Let me saddle Star and we can go." Everyone nodded. Caly ran off to the barn and saddled Star.

As she rode out of the barn the others mounted up. They headed off to enjoy their day. Steven smiled at the thought of his daughter starting to get out more. Even though he still worried about her.
