FEBRUARY 16, 1860

As Caly was in the garden she heard a horse come running into the yard. Looking up she saw Jesse coming towards her. Caly smiled as she brushed her hands off on her apron. As she walked out of the garden and shut the gate behind her.

Jesse pulled to a stop by the fence around the garden. Jesse said as he climbed down, "Good morning, Miss Caly."

Nodding she said, "Morning Jesse. What brings you out here today? Michael isn't here hes out helping my father with the herd."

Jesse said, "I didn't come to see Michael. I came to see you. I have a letter for you." He pulled a letter from his pocket and handed it to her.

Looking confused as she took the letter Caly said, "Who would be sending me a letter?"

As she took it from him, smiling Jesse said, "Its from Ivy."

Nodding Caly said, "Thank you for bringing it out here to me Jesse."

Jesse smiled and nodded, "Youre welcome. Please tell Michael I'll see him later. Well I better get back to the station before Rachel gets mad." He mounts up.

Caly nodded "Thank you for bringing this out to me Jesse. Tell everyone at the station I said hello, and if Rachel gets mad at you tell her its my fault. I'll tell Michael you stopped by." Jesse nodded and headed back to the station. Caly waved as he rode off.

Caly looked at the letter in her hand and went inside. She placed the letter on the table while she got a glass of ice tea. Caly sat down at the table, opened the letter and read it. She smiled, grabbed a pencil and a piece of paper and began to reply to Ivy's letter.

  Dear Ivy.

I was surprised to get your letter. There really isn't anything special I do. I listen to him when he talks. I am always honest with him. We talk about our feelings and talk about everything. I am always myself around him. I don't try to be someone that I'm not. Well I guess that is all.

Caly.

Then Caly grabbed an envelope, folded the letter, slipped it in the envelope, and sealed it. Grabbing another piece of paper. She wrote a short note.

Father, I will be right back. I had an errand to run.

Then she went to the barn and saddled Starbright. She mounted up and headed towards the station. As Caly reached the station she saw Noah sitting on the porch. Pulling to a stop she climbs down. Climbing the steps to the porch Noah said, "Hi Caly. Bucks not here. Hes on a run right now."

Sitting on the porch rail she said, "Hi Noah. Thanks for telling me but I actually came to see you."

Sitting his chair back on all four legs Noah said, "Oh really. That is a first, but I am glad to hear that. What can I do for you?"

Caly smiled and said, "Well, I do like to visit with all of you boys. But the reason I came by today is because Ivy wrote me a letter and I was wondering if you would deliver my reply to her for me. I don't know her, and I don't like going into the saloon. I felt it would be better if I wrote her a reply."

Noah smiled at the thought of being able to see Ivy again. Then said, "I would be happy to deliver it for you."

Caly nodded and handed him the letter and said, "Thank you, Noah. Well I better head back home now to fix lunch for my father and brother. I'll see you all later."

Noah took the letter and watched her mount up and said, "No problem, Caly. It was nice to see you again." He waved as she rode off. Caly turned and waved as she rode towards home.

Noah rode to town and went to the saloon. As he entered he saw Ivy and said, "Excuse me Ivy."

Ivy turned and smiled saying, "Hello Noah. This is a surprise."

Noah smiled and said, "I have a letter for you from Caly. She replied to your letter."

Ivy took the letter and said, "Thank you, Noah."

Noah nodded and said, "Youre welcome. Well, I better get back. I'll see you around."

Nodding she said, "Okay. I'll see you around." Noah left the saloon and headed back to the station.
