INTRODUCING BOB! |
| Bob had lived in with his family in a small town
called Macon, Georgia. His family is dead now due to old age. He got tired of living in
Georgia so he decided to move west. One-day fate smiled upon him and he found some people
just about to stake their roots in a new town, so he decided to stay, too. His permanent
residence is the Grand Square Farm not to far from the town called Dreamville. It was a cold winter day, Jan. 1st, when Caller Bob spotted Teaspoon chatting with two new comers. In a little town it was hard to keep arrivals a secret, so Caller Bob knew Teaspoon was talking with the new owners of the Pony Express Gazette. Since he was the mayor he knew he had to go over and welcome the ladies, but even if he wasnt the mayor he would do it anyway. But first he needed to leave his list of supplies with Javier, the store clerk, so that Javier could load his wagon for him while he made his routine inspection of the town. After Javier promised to have his wagon loaded and ready for Caller Bob in a few hours, not that Caller Bob was in any big hurry, Caller Bob went to call on the new owners of the newspaper. After Teaspoon had left, Melissa went rambling through her grandfathers papers at his sturdy oak desk. "Hey, Jacy come here! Look what I found." Jacy joined her younger sister at the desk. She saw the newspaper article where her grandfather had wrote about the Town Council, but the most interesting information in the article was what Melissa was pointing to. It seemed after the election of the Town Council their grandfather had asked the Mayor, Caller Bob, if he could be an Event Coordinator for the Town Council. This meant he would coordinate the towns festivities and do the advertising for free. "Jacy, you could do that!" Melissa exclaimed. "I dont think so Melissa!" Jacy frowned at Melissa. "Sure you can! You were great in the school yard, rallying kids together to play games and delegating positions for kickball." "But that was a whole different ballgame." Jacy rolled her eyes at her little sisters persistency. Melissa started laughing and Jacy finally realized what she had just said and her eyes lit up and she started laughing, too. Caller Bob was just coming over to introduce himself to the girls when he heard them laughing. He stuck his head in the doorway because the door had been left ajar and he said, "Whats so funny? Can I be let in on the joke?" Taken by surprise the girls immediately stopped laughing. Melissa looked at Jacy and Jacy said, "Can I help you? "Yeah, you can tell me the joke. It must really be good because I could hear you all the way out in the street." "It wasnt a joke really," Melissa said, "Or rather I dont think you would get it." "Oh, a private joke. Thats ok. I just stopped by to welcome you to Dreamville. Is it alright if I come in?" Jacy was very weary of strangers but of course the guy would be a stranger until they were properly introduced, so she said, "Oh yeah, please come on in." Jacy smiled and Melissa motioned for him to enter. Both girls thought the gentleman had a very charming smile that seemed to light up the room. "Im Bob Siltzer!" Bob came up to the girls and extended his hand to Jacy first. Both girls mouths drop open and then they both exclaim, "The Mayor!" Bobs smile got even bigger and he said, "Aw, I see my name proceeds me! But please call me Bob, not mayor. I want to be more than just your mayor, I want to be your friend. Did I interrupt something?" "No we were just looking at some of our grandpas newspapers." Jacy showed Caller Bob the newspaper they were looking at. "Especially the article where it says he was the Event Coordinator, and I was trying to talk Jacy into taking over the position. That is if you would let her." Melissa said. "Melissa, hes probably already got someone new for that now." Jacy replied. "Actually, no I dont. Your grandfather was going to put something together for a Christmas festivity for the town but he had to leave very unexpectantly." Bob said "Thats a shame! But Jacy could do something for Valentines. Its coming up soon. "Well, if you want the job Jacy, its all yours. We sure could use some type of festivity for the town. It will be our first one." Melissa looked pleadingly at Jacy and Jacy finally gave in. "Oh alright, Ill do it." "Great!" Both Melissa and Bob said simultaneously. "Ill help ya, Jacy! I promise!" Melissa cried. "Splendid! If you need anything, anything at all just ask." Caller Bob said. "I have a question for ya. Why did my grandpa call you Caller Bob in this article." Melissa asked. "Thats just what everybody calls me around here." The gals looked puzzled, so Bob chuckled. "They call me Caller Bob cause I do the square dancin calls of course weve only had one dance and it wasnt an official one. Teaspoon just had us townsfolk out in the street jumping and hollerin, and I started calling out some square dance calls and we had at least 3 squares a goin. "Wow! I love to square dance and so does Jacy. That would be great. We could plan on a Valentines Square Dance, huh Jacy?" "Well, well see Melissa." Jacy didnt want to commit to anything so soon. Bob left to visit some other residents and then to get his supply wagon while the girls discussed the Valentines festivities. |
