FEBRUARY 15, 1861

Caller Bob was thinking back to the Cupid Caper's Dance. It had turned out just fine, but he wondered where some of the folks had been, especially Jacy. She was suppose to have been there. She was also to have come by to see Caller Bob a few days before the dance to bring him the suggestion box for the club's name, but she hadn't done that either.

So now Caller Bob was on his way into town to see Jacy. He hoped nothing was wrong. He just knew that something must be wrong though because he didn't think that Jacy would miss the dance on purpose. He wondered why Jacy and Cody had been having problems lately, but he didn't want to meddle in their affairs. He had also noticed that after Christmas Jacy had been teaching Jimmy the square dancing moves. She seemed to be giving a lot of attention to him, and ignoring Cody. He sure would like to know what was going on with all three of them, but he wasn't sure how to approach the subject with Jacy. Ever since she had returned, no matter how hard he tried to have the same closeness that they had together before she had ran off, she had been standoffish towards him. He was afraid that he might alienate her more if he started questioning her about her relationships.

Caller Bob pulled Chase up in front of the PEG office. He knocked on the door, and Melissa answered. "Hi Caller Bob, what can I do for you?" She genuinely smiled at him. Caller Bob was like an uncle to her. She was always glad to see him. Whenever she had any problems she would seek him out instead of Jacy. Her and Jacy just weren't getting along very well lately. She hated that because she missed being close to her sister. She had almost told Caller Bob about Jake asking her out for supper, but she had decided to keep him her little secret for now.

"I'm here to see Jacy. Is she around?"

"No, she's not here." Melissa leaned against the door frame.

"Do you know where she is?"

"No, I haven't seen her since yesterday morning." Melissa watched a frown appear on Caller Bob's face. "Why do you need her?"

"I wanted the suggestion box with the names for our club in it. She was suppose to bring it to me a few days ago, but she never did."

"I know where it is. I'll get it for you." Melissa took off and Caller Bob went inside to wait for her in the office. "Here it is." Melissa called as she ran into the room. She handed it over to Caller Bob.

"Thank you, Miss Melissa." Caller Bob took the box. Before he walked out the door he turned back and half seriously asked, "Do we need to send out a posse to find Miss Jacy? I'm real tight with Sheriff Teaspoon. I'm sure I can get him to do it."

"I know you could, but I don't think we need too. She's probably at home or riding the range. She likes to do that a lot lately." Melissa smiled to reassure Caller Bob.

Caller Bob nodded. He headed over to talk to Teaspoon about a club meeting. When he entered the jailhouse, Teaspoon was taking down some wanted posters. "Good afternoon, sheriff."

They discussed calling a club meeting, and Teaspoon would notify everybody about it. They had tried to have one before the Cupid Caper Dance, but due to unforeseen circumstances they never had a chance to get everybody together to have a meeting. But come hell or high water, Teaspoon promised they would have it next week.
