NOVEMBER 24, 1861

After the trial Buck escorted Caly out of the courtroom with the tiny child in her arms. He didn't want her have to face those men that hurt her sister and maybe bring back some memories of her own attack.

As he keep a loving arm around her shoulders, he couldn't help but wish this would be different. He looked down at the child she was holding and felt for him.

They had been to see Daniel about the child. Daniel had told them that child wouldn't live much longer.

The young man knew it would hurt his beloved wife. But he hoped that the upcoming wedding of their friends would help her through it, along with the added children to her family.

"Buck, Caly." Jimmy called out as he, Lee and the other riders come over to where they stood.

Caly smiled as she hugged her best friend. "I see you haven't killed him yet, I see." She teased her friends.

Lee laughed. "No what fun would that be before the wedding. I'm glad your back." The red head looked at the child in her friend’s arms. "Whose this?"

The brunette smiled as she uncovered the sleeping child's face. "It's Two Eagles. His mother died from the fever. Red Bear asked us to see about helping the child.

Lee nodded. "What did Daniel say? She watched her friend with the baby as it started to fuss. Caly let the baby suck on her finger, as she looked at her friends. "He's dying. All we can do is keep him comfortable." She couldn't help but smile at her friend.  'I know it's sad, but he wont be in pain anymore. I do have good news though. We'll be parents soon after your wedding."

Lee looked at Jimmy and then at their friends. "Are you expecting Caly?"

Buck smiled. "No not yet. A woman in my brother’s village has asked us to take her baby when it's born. It's a half breed like me.' He winced as he rubbed his arm. "Well, it's true."

Jimmy shook his head. "Nothing wrong with what you are. I'm sure Caly would agree. Now how about we let the ladies have some fun while we go have a drink to celebrate my wedding and your pending fatherhood."

Caly smiled. "So go on Lee and I will be fine." She kissed Buck then pushed him off towards Jimmy and the others. She watched him go. "Let's go have something to drink."

Lee nodded in agreement and walked with her friend to the Silver Spoon.

After Charlie had showed them to their table, Lee watched Caly with a worried eye. "Caly you sure your okay?"

Caly smiled. "Yeah why? I'm a little tired but with the trip back, the baby and the trial I'm just tired is all." She took a sip of the tea that Charlie had brought over for them. Caly shook her head. "We won’t be in town long this little guy will need to eat soon." She looked down at the baby in her arms. "Not sure how it's happened but I can nurse him as if he was mine. Daniel said that happens sometimes."

Lee smiled as she patted her friend’s arms. "Just means you want your own family soon, I think. You never know what will happen."

The men in their lives soon joined them, and after a good meal and a long day, the foursome headed back to their homes.
