FEBRUARY 26, 1861

All of the riders would be in tonight so it would be the perfect night to talk with everyone about who the Cupid Caper could be. Buck delivered the letters from Lee. Luke and Meg, Caly, Corey, and Ted each got one. The letter was short but urgent. "Please come to the Pony Express Station tonight. Supper will be provided. URGENT!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Lee."

Meg came to town to get supplies and to see Serena and DJ and Luke had showed her the letter. Corey rode with Luke to go get Meg and the twins. And Ted rode out to the station by himself and Buck went to go get Caly.

When they were all there, Rachel served supper. Over the course of supper, Lee began, "Im sure you all are wondering what was so urgent that I asked you here. Well, I need your help. I did get my memory back. But thats not what is at issue here tonight. Since I got my memory back, I remembered that I had received a letter. A letter signed by Cupid Caper and it told me to meet him at Dead End Canyon where Ted was. Ted received the same letter and, so he didnt write it. But since I thought I was meeting someone else, I had dressed up, so Ted found out who I really am. However I have his word that he wont tell the company. It was Rachels idea to bring us all together to discuss this. Maybe we can all figure out who else in town knows that Im a girl and would they try to get me fired."

"Well Meg and I got letters from the Cupid Caper telling us to meet other people too. Of course we didnt know until it was too late that we werent meeting each other." Luke spoke up.

"I received one, too," Cody replied. "I was hoping that Jacy sent it, but Charity was there, and she didnt send it either."

"I got one and Jacy was there, but she didnt say anything about meeting anyone. I thought it was someone else, so I didnt say anything."

"I got one, too." Ike signed. "But the person I met didnt write it either."

"Same here." Noah chimed in.

"So who sent them?" Jesse asked.

"I hate to say this, but it seems to me that the most logical would be Jacy. Jimmy said that his stood him up, but Jacy was there." Teaspoon said. "It just doesnt seem like it would be Jacy though. It isnt like her to do something like this."

"No, no way, Jacys not like that. She didnt do it." Cody shook his head as he defended her.

"Codys right Teaspoon." Jimmy said. "Besides, if it was Jacy, she would have sent her meeting place to Cody and not to me. Remember its her younger sister that has a crush on me. I dont think she would do that to Melissa."

"Youre right there Jimmy." Teaspoon said. "It just doesnt seem like this is something that Jacy would do." He knew that Jacy had been acting sort of strange since shes been back, but he didnt think she was capable of such a scheme.

"Well, I could keep an ear out while Im in the shop. I think I remember hearing Elena and Charity talking about how Charity likes Cody, maybe it was her." Grace offered.

"If it was Charity, then Lee would have already been fired. That woman cant keep a secret to save her life." Corey said.

"I dont think it was Charity. She might be a gossip, but I dont think shes a schemer." Cody defended his friend.

A chorus of, "I dont know who it could be then," went around the room.

"Well, I for one will be helping Lee to find out. She doesnt need to loose her job over this." Ted offered.

"If she does, shell have a job out at the ranch with us." Caly offered. Lee smiled at her friend. It was nice to know that she had something to fall back on if she had to.

"I could help in keeping and ear out, too. If I find out who it is, then Ill let you know." Meg said.

"Trust me if I find out who it is, they wont tell anybody." Lou said.

"Well all help you find out Lee." Kid supported his friend.

"But it does seem to point to Jacy or Charity." Jesse said.

"But why Jacy? Why would she want to meet Jimmy when shes my girl?" Cody asked.

"I dont know." Buck said. "So lets look at Charity."

"Why would Charity split the rest of us up?" Noah asked.

"Well, Jacy has no reason to split the rest of you up either! She didnt do it" Cody yelled as he left the room.

Everyone jumped at the sound of the slamming door. "I have to agree with Cody. Jacy doesnt seem like the type of person to do something like this." Lee said.

"She has been acting strange since she got back." Ted suggested. "But I dont think it was her either."

"Hmmm . . . what if it was someone who does have a crush on Jimmy, but she couldnt show up because of some reason . . . like because Jacy was there." Teaspoon suggested.

"Well, we know one person who has a crush on Jimmy." Meg pointed out.

"Not Melissa . . . her and my brother have been getting along very well. They like each other. I dont think Melissa has a crush on Jimmy anymore. In fact I dont think she ever did. She wanted Jacy and Jimmy to get together because she liked him, but she knew he was too old for her. No, I dont think it was Melissa." Caly defended her.

Well, no one could think of anything else to say, so they all just decided to keep their eyes and ears open for a lead as to who the culprit was. As everyone started to leave, Caly knew she needed to talk to Buck alone. "Buck would you care to have supper with me on Friday? It will be just the two of us. Pa and Michael will be out of the house that night. One of the cows is due."

Buck smiled at the thought of being alone with his girl. "Sure I would love that. What time to you want me there?"

"Oh, great! Thank you. I know you will like what I have planned." Caly smiled as she mounted up. "Theres no hurry for me to get back. Michael is with Melissa, and Pa is busy with the books. Lets take our time getting back."

Buck nodded. "Okay. I would like that."

They headed out towards the ranch at a slow pace.
