SEPTEMEBER 11, 1861
Brandon looked up when he heard the train whistle. He couldn't help but
notice the four children that got off the last car. They were all girls. He looked over
the paper that listed the day's incoming trains. He didn't see anything about the children
arriving alone.
"Excuse me. I'm supposed to be meeting a wagon train of orphans
here. My orphans are going to join up with them to look for new homes." The tall lean
man motioned to the children behind him.
"You could see the sheriff. He might know." Brandon answered
back as he nodded to his brother.
Aaron returned his brother's nod as he checked over the crates that had
arrived for the saloon. He started to load them into the wagon.
Brandon finished pointing the man to the sheriff's office, and then helped his brother with the rest of the crates. "Sorry for the delay. A man was looking for some orphans he is to meet up with."
Aaron smiled. "No problem. Thanks for the help. You coming by the
saloon later?"
Brandon nodded. "Yep, as soon as I can get off. "
Aaron smiled. "Great see ya there then." He climbed into the
seat of the wagon and headed towards town.
Brandon smiled as he returned to his work.
