JANUARY 8, 1860

It was a crisp January morning, and Teaspoon decided it was time to make his rounds. He would start at the livery and work his way around the town. The best place to check out to see if there were any drifters in town was the saloon, so he would make the saloon his last stop of his morning rounds.

As Teaspoon entered the saloon there was a ruckus going on. Cody and someone Teaspoon had never seen before was having a knock-out, drag-out fight. Teaspoon fired his gun into the air to get their attentions. Cody backed off and the drifter scooted back and dropped into a chair. Teaspoon could see that the drifter was drunk because his rear almost hit the floor instead of the chair.

"Now what the hell is going on here? Cody?" Teaspoon was very upset at this unruly behavior and especially so early in the day for it wasnt even noon yet.

"It wasnt my fault Teaspoon. I was passing by and I saw him pestering Lara. I told him to leave her alone and he wouldnt do it, so I put myself in between him and Lara and he hit me."

Exasperated Cody defended himself.

"Ok, Ok! I get the picture! Cody take him over to the jailhouse for me. I think he needs some time to somber up."

The drifter started to protest but Cody drew his gun, and he quickly shut up. Cody herded the drunk toward the door.

Meanwhile Caller Bob had just rode into town. He needed to tell the sheriff something very important, so he had sped to town as fast as he could. But unfortunately when Caller Bob arrived at the jailhouse, Teaspoon wasnt there. He was about to walk out when he decided he better leave Teaspoon a note just in case he couldnt find him. Caller Bob grabbed a pen and a piece of paper off the sheriffs desk. He scribbled Teaspoon a note. It just told Teaspoon that Caller Bob is looking for him and its very important.

Caller Bob decided to check the saloon to see if Teaspoon was there or maybe someone in the saloon might know where Teaspoon was. As Caller Bob pushed opened the doors a man bumped into him. The man had his head hung low so Caller Bob couldnt get a very good look at him. The drunk pushed away from Caller Bob and kept going. Cody exited the saloon right behind the drunk and rolled his eyes when he saw Bob and said, "He has no manners."

Seeing Teaspoon Bob dismissed the drunk and walked over to the sheriff. "What was that all about?" Bob inquired.

"Aw, just some drunk that tried to impress Lara." Teaspoon replied. "Lara are you ok? Do you want to press charges?"

"No, Im ok! Just keep him away from here, ok?" Lara stepped up to the bar and started to relax now that the incident was over.

Teaspoon, I need to talk to you. Its very important." Bob quietly said.

"Ok, Lets go over to the jail. Well have some privacy there." Teaspoon headed for the door and Caller Bob followed.

Meanwhile Cody was right behind the prisoner, and as they were about ready to enter the jailhouse, Danny was just coming out of the jailhouse to go in search of Teaspoon. Danny bumped into the drunk, the drifter got mad and pushed Danny into Cody. Cody went tumbling backwards falling down off the porch with Danny tumbling on top of him.

The drifter immediately pulled his derringer, not quite sure what he intended to do with it. He just knew he didnt want to be put back in a jail cell again or worse the state prison. He looked around and saw the excuse he needed for firing.

Teaspoon and Caller Bob were almost to the jailhouse when they saw the drunk raise a gun and point it at Caller Bob. Lucky for Caller Bob that the drunk missed when he started firing off the gun. Being incapacitated made the drifters perception and aim very lousy.

"Bob take cover!" Teaspoon yelled. Teaspoon didnt have to tell Caller Bob twice. He immediately dived for the nearest trough in front of the dressmakers shop. Teaspoon fired his gun off while he joined Caller Bob behind the trough.

Cody scrambled to his feet and grabbed Danny by the arm, pulling him to safety behind another trough beside the jailhouse porch as he fired off a few rounds at the drunk. Being the closest to the prisoner Codys aim hit its mark, the drunk fell to the wooden planks of the porch. The derringer fell out of its owners hands and landed a few feet away. Cody waited a few seconds but when the drunk didnt move he started toward the porch. Teaspoon and Caller Bob was also on their way to the porch.

The three examined the body. The drifter was dead. Of course it was self-defense.

"I know who it is." Caller Bob announced.

"What? Who?" Teaspoon asked.

"I didnt recognize him until after he started shootin at us. Hes who I wanted to talk to you about. He was trying to kill me for something that happened a few years ago back in Georgia."

"Ok, Bob you can tell me all about it later. Cody help me take him over to the livery." Teaspoon meant the dead drifter.

Teaspoona and Cody carried the body to Dreamville Livery with Caller Bob and Danny tagging along. Justin loaned them a wagon. Caller Bob showed Teaspoon an area not too far from town but not too close either that would make the perfect spot for the cemetery. Cody and Caller Bob grabbed a shovel out of the wagon and started to dig a grave. As they worked on the gravesite Caller Bob told them the why the drifter had wanted to kill him.

"Well, about 2 years ago I was calling a square dance at a coming out party. And as you all know you change partners quite a lot while square dancing. Well, this one lady, she came to the dance with a date, became attracted to another man, and they ran off together. The guy she had been dating before, is the guy we're digging this hole for. He got upset and tried to kill them both, and he was thrown in prison for it. I received a letter yesterday from an old friend that Potter, that's him, escaped. Also the letter said that Potter had learned from someone in my hometown where I had moved to, so my friend in the letter warned me to be careful. So I came into town to tell you Teaspoon, but it was too late."

They buried Fred Potter and Justin arrived with the marker as he had promised.

As they rode back to town, Teaspoon said, "The first one buried in our cemetery was an attempted murderer. I hope we only bury outlaws in there."

"Teaspoon, I'll make a sign and get a fence around the area so people will know it's the cemetery." Justin volunteered.

"That will be good." Caller Bob said.

"What's it going to be called?" Cody inquired.

"What about Dreamville Cemetery." Justin suggested.

"Sounds good to me." Cody answered. Teaspoon, Caller Bob and Danny agreed.

In a weeks time Justin would have the sign and fence up. It was located on a piece of Caller Bob's land. They didn't want the cemetery to close to town because they thought that no one would like to see a cemetery everyday, it might damper one's spirits.
