FEBRUARY 27, 1860

Caller Bob called a meeting of just the officers. They discussed the treasury reports and found out that after they had paid Simon for the school supplies that there was still money left over in the school fund. So they wouldnt need another fund raiser for a while. All dues for the town fund had been collected for the last two months, and both the teacher and Sheriff Teaspoon had been paid for each month. Now that the old business was out of the way, Caller Bob asked, "Is there any new business?"

"Well, this is old and new business. We still dont have a preacher in this town. I was thinking that maybe if we build a church then a preacher will come." Rachel suggested.

"Its a great idea, but who is going to pay for the lumber, and who is going to build it?" Walter asked.

"I can get the boys to build it." Teaspoon was referring to the Pony Express riders, of course everybody knew that.

"Well, thats half the problem solved." Walter exclaimed, "But what about the other part?"

"We could have another fund raiser like we did for the school." Rachel answered.

"I dont think its so wise to have another one so soon." Walter said.

"I actually agree with Mr. Simmons. Its too soon to do another one." Caller Bob agreed. For a few minutes everyone was silent. "I think we should hold off on the church business for a little while. Maybe we can think of something to do for the fund raiser and have it at the beginning of the summer. Besides Easter is coming soon, and I think we should do some kind of town activity for that. But this time we wont need to have any type of sale, just some FUN! All in favor to ponder ideas of how to raise the money for the church and then discuss it after Easter, say aye."

Teaspoon, Rachel and Walter all said "AYE!"

"So the church has been put on the back burner until Easter has passed. Is there anything else to discuss?" No one replied, so Caller Bob hit the desk with his gavel and said, "Meeting adjourned." The officers dispersed and went to their designated homes and offices.
