PRIMPING

JANUARY 31, 1860

Blythe had the afternoon off from the Post Office so she could get everything she needed for the dance. First she headed to the bank where she took out some money. She needed a haircut and a new dress, plus there was going to be a donation sale to raise money for the school. She wasn't going to buy a raffle ticket, but she would probably buy something at the sale.

After getting some money from the bank, she went to the barbershop to get her hair trimmed. She had noticed some split ends that morning, and that was just one thing she couldn't stand. She got the ends of her long hair trimmed, and then headed to the dress shop to get the most important thing for the dance, her dress.

To her surprise Blythe saw the perfect dress hanging on a display as soon as she walked in the door. It had a midnight blue velvet bodice, with satin ribbon trim in the same color. The long sleeves were the same blue satin, as was the floor length skirt, with the edges of both trimmed in the velvet. It was absolutely perfect! She tried it on and was happy to find that it fit perfectly. She paid for it and headed back to the store, happy that she had gotten everything she needed for the dance.
