JANUARY 29, 1860
Blythe smiled as she saw Kid walk into the store. He was just getting back from a run,
and he looked really nervous for some reason. She took the pouch as he handed it to her
and took the mail out.
"Did you have a good run, Kid?" she asked, beginning to sort the mail.
"It was okay," he answered. "Blythe, I need to ask you something."
"Okay?"
"You know the Valentine's dance that's being planned?" Blythe nodded, so Kid
continued. "Well, I was wondering if you'd go with me?" He looked for all the
world like she was going to pull a gun on him!
Blythe laughed to herself. Kid was so adorable when he was nervous. "I'd love to go
with you Kid," she said, smiling. He immediately looked relieved and began to talk to
her like he normally did.
"I'll pick you up at eight that night," Kid promised as he left to go back to
the station.
"I'll be waiting," Blythe waved goodbye to him.
