OCTOBER 19, 1860

Beauregard was sitting at a table in the Silver Spoon eating supper when Caller Bob came in. Beauregard motioned for him to join him, so Caller Bob took a seat. Charity took his order and then left.

"Ive heard about the costume party that Mr. and Mrs. Saunders are throwing. Couldnt help but hear about it. It seems like thats all everybody is talking about. That new lady running the boutique must be getting a lot of business." Beauregard started the conversation. He hated silence.

"Yes, she is busy. Are you going?" Caller Bob inquired.

"No, I dont think so. I wont be in town at the time. I need to go on down the line and make sure everything is going according to plan. I need to keep close track of the operation now to make sure I know exactly when I need to pull some men off the line to start constructing the new railroad station. Are you going to the party?"

"Yes, I am." Caller Bob said. He looked up and thanked Charity as she sat his supper down at the table.

"What are you going as if dont mind me asking?" Beauregard inquired.

"Im not going in a costume. Im just going to be there to keep an eye on things. Im going to keep traveling back and forth from the town to the party, just in case Teaspoon might need some help. Most of the people will be at the party except Teaspoon. Hes going to be keeping an eye on the town, and I want to be close by throughout the night in case he needs me, so Ive decided not to bother with a costume." Caller Bob explained.

"Good idea." I sure as heck dont want anything bad to happen to this town." He took a bite of steak, chewed and swallowed. "For several reasons," he finished when his mouth was no longer full.

Caller Bob knew why without Beauregard telling him. He knew Beauregard needed this town for the railroad station, and he also knew that Beauregard didnt want anything bad to happen to Destiny.

Then chatted and after finishing their meals, Beauregard went back to the hotel, and Caller Bob mounted Promenade and rode back to his home.
