Every Time I Cry

Written By: Bob Regan and Karen Staley

You call and wake me up the way you always do
Say you miss me and you're sorry, deja vu
You push the button in my heart you know so well
The wall starts comming down and I remind myself

--Chorus--

Everytime I think you might have changed
Put aside the anger and the pain
Make myself believe that there's a way to work it out
Everytime you say lets try again
Beggin me to let you back in
Everytime I do, Everytime you lie
Everytime I cry

--End of Chorus--

If only promises could just erase the past
I could open up my heart enough to take you back
But we've been down this road time and time again
I've learned how this story always ends

---Chorus--- (twice)

Everytime I do
Everytime you lie
Everytime I cry

What Terri Clark Had to Say...

"Karen and I are really good friends, but we don't write together. We're a lot alike, but she's much more hilarious. We just hang out, go to the movies and don't talk about music that much. I went to her song publisher when I was 'making the rounds' for this album. I heard this and said, 'Wow, who wrote that?' They said, 'Karen Staley.' I called her up and said, 'I can't believe you never played me that song!' I love the way the end of the chorus goes and the whole melody of it. IIt sounds to me like something Linda Ronstadt would sing if she were still doing country music." 1
