RICKY    LYNN           GREGG
          ~BIO~

Gregg, the youngest of five boys,  grew up in Longview, Texas.  His musical career began in his teens and in 1993, he was named Billboard's number four Top New Artist.  He has played guitar on such albums as Hank Williams Jr.'s "Hog Wild" and has received acclaim in publications ranging from "Music City News" to "Entertainment Weekly."
"I'm one of those guys who loved country as a kid, " he said.  "Merle Haggard, Johnny Horton, all the greats.  I really did love them.  But I loved the style of Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Winter.  I just combined all those styles to create my own.  It's an energetic style of country."
His two CDs, "Ricky Lynn Gregg" and "Get a Little Closer," have drawn a fan base that routinely travels thousands of miles keeping up with the artist and his three band members when they are on the road.
Accompanying him are Jon Brickey on bass and vocals, Christy Quick  on keyboards and vocals and Don Hanshaw on drums and vocals.
"I love the road," said Gregg.  "I've been on the road since I was 15.  It's been a full-time job for me for years.  I have all my clothes and toiletries and I have a bag that I never unpack.  I just grab it and restock it.  It's like anything, if you do it too much, you get tired of it, but if you step away, you miss it and realize you have a passion for it."
Gregg's passion stretches beyond his music.  His love of giving reaches to his childhood.  "I'm very charity-minded," he said.  "I have golf-tournaments for Human Resources of Texas.  My mother worked in a nursing home and my first performances other than church were in the nursing home.  I built a big compassion for the elderly.  I wish to do something for them."
Native Americans are a group that Gregg especially wants to help.
Gregg, who is part Cherokee, started his Trail of Hope project after seeing Native Americans so poor that they were sawing off peices of their homes to burn as firewood.  The campaign accumulated and delivered more than $1 million in goods to various reservations.
For concerts, he often dresses the part.
"I do go through phases" he said.  "It depends on the tour we're on.  A lot of times I wear my heritage proudly--hair to the waist.  That's because fo my heritage."
Ricky is an act that you don't want to miss.  Music is his passion and it shows.
